Well, here we are mid month and I’m just now getting around to posting about one of my favorite reading events, National Poetry Month!
So it may be a bit of old news to everyone but hopefully you’ve been enjoying some good poems all month.
I recently finish reading my first poetry collection of the year, I Hope This Finds You Well by Kate Baer, which is a collection of erasure poems created from comments she received both from supporters and detractors. I especially loved the ones that were from negative comments and how she turned around the poem into something powerful and a way to fight back the negativity.
I plan to read another poetry collection but just not sure which one yet. I have some poetry books on my shelves which I haven’t read yet. Some Margaret Atwood, Tracy K. Smith and a collection of nature poems. So we’ll see which one I read next.
Other than that, just been trying to stay sane. Unfortunately the bookbinding class I was going to attend this month got rescheduled but something I can look forward to in the summer.
One exciting thing I did read recently, is that Austin is one of the best cities in the country for book lovers. We may not be #1 but we’ve moved up the ranks and are now at #15. Love that!
I hope you are all doing well and let me know if you’ve read any good poems lately or discovered a new favorite poet!
Sadly I haven’t read any poems this month! And they’re so easy to read. I’ve just been too caught up with work and taking care of my mom. And I feel like this month has gone by really fast. I’m already figuring out what library books I want to read in May.
Lark – Don’t worry, you still have some time! 🙂 I’m sorry you are also pulling double-duty with work and taking care of your mom. I hope she’s well and hope you are finding a way to take care of yourself too! Yes, this month is flying and I’m just looking forward to next month and hopefully some time off.
