We welcome April with the start to National Poetry Month. The last couple of years I missed out on going to some local poetry events and unfortunately this year we’re all shut in so I guess no in person poetry events but that’s not to say we can’t celebrate virtually, right?
Poets.org has Shelter In Poems to help us find comfort in prose plus 30 ways to celebrate National Poetry Month at home or online. I like that.
Or for those of you who enjoy podcasts, how about Poetry Off the Shelf by Poetry Foundation?
If you prefer watching performance poetry, check out Button Poetry’s collections of videos.
And, of course Serena at Savvy Verse & Wit is hosting a year long poetry reading challenge plus she has some other fun links to share.
As you can see by the picture I’m sharing, I took out Good Poems for Hard Times off of my poetry shelf today and look forward to re-visiting with some favorite poems in this book. Let me know if you are planning on reading any poetry this month or share some of your favorite poems.
I always forget that April is National Poetry Month, probably because I don’t read a lot of poetry, even though I do like it. So this post was a good reminder for me to read some poetry. 😀
With a bit of serendipity, I started a new hand stitching project centered on poetry. It is going slowly, partly because I find it hard to settle and partly because my arthritic thumb bothers me. I finished all the applique portions and have started on the text. 🙂
Hi, Iliana! Good Poems for Hard Times is an enjoyable read, but I prefer the first volume, Good Poems. Two of my favorite poems from that collection is “Orange” by Wendy Cope and “Welcome Morning” by Anne Sexton. Take care of yourself.
Happy National Poetry Month! I haven’t been good about reading poetry as of late and plan to change that this month. A novel in verse and perhaps a poetry collection or two. I think my brain can handle that, even if not a regular novel. Thank you for sharing all these links! I look forward to exploring them. I hope all is well with you!
Happy National Poetry Month! I have been taking part in Serena’ challenge, I love finding new poetry to enjoy.
Have a nice week and stay well.
