I had a fun time at mystery book group the other night although I think we may have scared off a new member when we pretty much all did not like the book except for the new member. We all appreciated some aspects of the story just not the whole book. I will try to have a review up soon.
In the meantime I’m really excited about some of the books we have to look forward to in the coming months:
- Total Chaos by Jean-Claude Izzo
- Scorpion Betryal by Andrew Kaplan
- Suspect by Robert Crais. I think I’ve read one of his books before? It must have been ages ago though.
- Joyland by Stephen King. Just in time for Halloween!
The books I’m most excited about are Total Chaos because of its setting and Joyland because I haven’t read a King book since my college years! I used to enjoy King but then I read The Tommyknockers. I clearly remember I should have been studying for finals and instead was reading this book and I kept reading more pages because I kept thinking it had to get better but it never did. Hopefully Joyland will be much more enjoyable.
So that’s it for book group news. Now, I’m going to go rest away from the computer and relax my dry eyes. I think I’ve spent a bit too long at the computer today.
Hey, that happens sometime – LOL I want to read Joyland but I was thinking of waiting until fall just before Dr. Sleep comes out in September.
Diane@BibliophilebytheSea – Hopefully she’ll give us another try! And, yes I think keeping Joyland for the fall is a great idea!
I’m reading the Izzo right now and liking it very much! And I have Joyland on my reading pile, too. Lots of good books there!
Danielle – Yay, I’m excited to hear you are enjoying that one. I think it’ll be a much more interesting read than the one we just had.
