Tonight I went to my mystery book group – Murder on Mondays – and we discussed Murder on a Girl’s Night Out by Anne George. The majority of the group liked the novel and I was not looking forward when it was my turn to give my thoughts on the book because I didn’t really care for it.
I enjoy cozy mysteries but this one was just too cozy. The pacing was very slow and the mystery seemed farfetched. It turns out I wasn’t the only one who didn’t care for the book but hose who liked the book, enjoyed the southern humor and the character’s relationships with one another.
We’ve already decided which books to read for the next couple of months. They are The Black Echo by Michael Connelly, Grift Sense by James Swain and Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear. The one I’m looking forward to the most is the Maisie Dobbs book.
Now I’m off to put my list together for nomination night for my foreign book group. That’s tomorrow night. I can’t wait.
