I feel like I’ve hit the BookMooch jackpot lately as several of the books I’ve had on my wishlist or radar came through. I’m still expecting another book soon but let me tell you which books I’ve received.
- Burning Bright by Tracy Chevalier. She’s been a bit hit or miss for me but we’ll see what I think of this one.
- I Wish Someone Were Waiting for Me Somewhere by Anna Gavalda. I thought her book Hunting & Gathering was quirky and fun so I’m curious to see what this will be like.
- One Corpse Too Many by Ellis Peters. Loved the first book in the series so must read more.
- Burglars Can’t Be Choosers by Lawrence Block. I believe Sandy recommended this series to me.
- A Plague On Both Your Houses by Susanna Gregory
- No One You Know by Michelle Richmond. I really enjoyed Year of Fog and Melody had a great review of this one recently so I think I’m in for a treat.
- Ferris Beach by Jill McCorkle. Danielle mentioned this book not too long ago and I just had to add it to my list.
I need to put up more books in my inventory there but I’ll probably wait until I do another weeding of the shelves to do that.
So how about you? Gotten any good bookmooch books lately?

Oh yay! I’ve been lucky over there lately as well: Alias Grace, Purple Hibiscus, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Kindred, Falling Angels (also by Chevalier)…I just love Bookmooch. I especially look forward to your thoughts on Burning Bright!
I haven’t got much from bookmooch recently, despite having 100+ books on my wishlist. I got lots initially, but I’ve run out of readily available books now.
Congrats on getting such a good range of books though. They do look good.
Chevalier is hit or miss with me too and this one was unfortunately a huge miss. I hope you like it better than I did!! I have a ton of books that I could list on Bookmooch…would be fun to get some in the mail!! Enjoy!
Chevalier is hit or miss with me as well! This one was, as Staci put it, a huge miss! I have her new one here to read, and I am hoping to have better luck with it!
I’m glad to hear you liked Gavalda because I’ve been thinking of reading her, and it’s good to have another recommendation!
Wow, you did hit the jackpot! I have yet to do the Bookmooching thing. My God, I shudder to think of my shelves if I did! I guess I should give it a try if I run out of things to read (ha!)
Bookmooch didn’t work out for me, but I’ve certainly gotten my share of books, this week. Today: North or Be Eaten by Andrew Peterson; The Fabric of a Woman by (??) Hines and Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner.
I’ve read I Wish Someone Were Waiting for Me Somewhere and absolutely loved it. It’s on the good shelves. I haven’t read Hunting and Gathering, yet, but I will!
Yay for finding books you want on bookmooch. There for quite awhile they never had the books I was looking for but this week I added some new ones and some people have them. I sure like the program.
Burning Bright’ seems to have been the book that broke the camel’s back (mixing metaphors left, right and centre!) where Chevalier is concerned. I have progressively liked her work less and less and I haven’t read this one. But, friends who were really still onside with her gave this a real thumbs down.
Nymeth – Oh you’ve found some great stuff! Alias Grace & Purple Hibiscus are two of my favorites. I’ll keep you posted on Burning Bright.
Jackie – I know, to me it seems like bookmooch is great in waves. I can go several months without nothing and then I get tons. Plus it depends on what books I’m looking for. If they’ve been around for a while I have a better chance.
Staci – Oh bummer. I think her book Girl with a Pearl Earring was fabulous but then I didn’t like the Lady & The Unicorn (I think that’s the title) at all. It was awful. So, we’ll see…
Marg – Darn, I get the feeling this book isn’t going to be a winner! 😉 I’ll keep you posted.
Dorothy W. – I did like her book. Funny enough it’s one of those books that I think I even liked more after time had gone by. It was cute so I’m hoping this one is good. I hope you’ll give her a try!
Sandy – Hee, you gotta try it! It’s fun but there are times when I can’t find any of my books. I found that it works best when I check it out every few months.
Bookfool, aka Nancy – Oh yay, I’m so glad to hear you really liked that book. I’m looking forward to it. And, why didn’t Bookmooch work for you? Do you use another swap site? I know some people really like PaperbackSwap. It sounds good too but I just don’t want to get too overwhelmed with stuff so that’s why I haven’t really joined it yet.
booklogged – I know what you mean. It’s so much fun when you actually find a good bunch though isn’t it?
Table Talk – Oh dear, I’m not getting a good vibe for this book! haha.. Well, I guess I’ll give it a go anyway (one of these days) and see what happens. Watch I’ll be the only person who likes it – haha…
I don’t book mooch. Too much temptation for me!
I like the title of Plague on Both Your Houses. Sounds more deadly than “pox on you”.
You have hit the jackpot! Unfortunately I have to agree with others – Burning Bright was a huge disappointment for me after loving her other novels. I hope it is a different experience for you.
I’ve never done the bookmooch thing myself. It sounds like you got some good ones 🙂
Yay–you found Ferris Beach. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I’ve not been finding much to mooch lately, though I’ve been steadily sending out books and stockpiling points!
I don’t Bookmooch. I really should, but I just never got around to signing up for it. I’ve been trying my best to stick with the library lately. Gotta save the $$$. I was bad this weekend though. I bought 7 books! Of course, this is only the 3rd time this year I purchased any, so I really think it was well-deserved!! (besides, 1 was free, and 2 were purchased with a gift card. So really I only bought 4! Don’t you love how I can justify?)
I got the first few books in Susanna Gregory’s series for some ridiculous price when we were in the UK but I still haven’t started to read them. Sheesh. They sound good though, don’t they? Maybe if you enjoy A Plague on Both Your Houses it’ll encourage me to finally read it as well. And I’m really looking forward to No One You Know.
I’ll be the odd one out and say I rather enjoyed Burning Bright…give it a try.
Not so much with No One You Know…I’ll be interested to hear what you think!
Yay about bookmooching! I’ve managed to mooch a few copies from my list lately too… thanks to Lady Luck and great timing! 😀
I hope you enjoy No One You Know!
Have a great week! 🙂
Isabel – Oh you are so right. We should start saying that 🙂
Karen – I’m taking note and I am not feeling to hopeful about Burning Bright! ha. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes.
bookworm – It’s so great. I do recommend it!
Danielle – I had to wait quite a bit for that one but I was so happy to find it after reading your review! I read a McCorkle book so long ago and I remember liking it so I’m excited to see how it goes with this one.
Stephanie – Ah, I think you were definitely due for some book purchases then! 🙂 Bookmooch is a lot of fun so think about it 🙂
tanabata – I’ve got two of her books but I really want to find the first one. You know how I am about reading the first one in the series first! They do sound great don’t they.
ravenous reader – Oh yay – maybe you and I will be the only ones 🙂 See I really liked No One You Know so I’m hopeful but we’ll see.
Melody – You must tell us what you’ve gotten! It’s so awesome to finally find some from our lists right? Have a wonderful week too! 🙂
I LOVE bookmooch! I’ve also received some great ones recently, it’s such a great resource. I love mailing books out too, makes me happy. 🙂
I thought A Plague on Both Your Houses was the first one. I could be confused though, I’ll have to look it up again. I prefer starting series for the beginning too. 🙂
Joanna – It is a great resource isn’t it? I’ve heard good things about PaperbackSwap too but haven’t tried it. Maybe one day 🙂
Tanabata – See, I thought so too but then when I was linking the book I read something that said third in the series. Maybe I read wrong. I guess I need to investigate a bit more 🙂
wow…great list of books.
