It’s that time to do a quick look back at August. I thought July wasn’t a stellar reading month in terms of the number of books read but it looks like the same holds true for August. I only read three books this month and one was even a carry-over from July. What is going on with my reading?
Anyway, I did finish In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume, People Who Knew Me by Kim Hooper and The Shanghai Factor by Charles McCarry. My favorite of these was People Who Knew Me. I really enjoyed that book.
With regards to my reading challenges progress, let’s just say I’m falling way behind on all of my challenges. Makes you wonder why I keep joining them but, what can I say. I love making book lists and love the idea of them so it’s fun and I’m sure I’ll continue to join more. This reminds me that I still haven’t come up with my potential reads for the Japanese Literature Reading challenge. Will work on that soon.
As far as what I’m looking forward to next month, oh lots of stuff. On the personal front, I’m doing a weekend trip with my two best friends. I cannot wait! I’m going to see some family members next month. When it comes to reading, I have some poetry, new crime fiction and lots of good stuff to dip into from my recent library haul and some ARCs that have arrived (I haven’t told you about those yet) and there’s also Banned Books Week and Hispanic Heritage month so I’ll try to put together some posts with some book recommendations. Also, shouldn’t the R.I.P. reading challenge also start soon?
So as always I’m excited to see where my reading adventures take me to next month. Actually I’m in the middle of some really good books so I’ll tell you about those in my next post. Now, how was your reading month and what are you looking forward to?
The R.I.P. challenge starts today. Or at least it is supposed to!
My August was filled with more library reading than has been the case this year, but it was somewhat more varied, too, which is always a good thing for me. Overall, this might have been my most bookish summer yet. As for September, I’ve saved some chunky reads (which I didn’t feel like tackling in August) so I’m a little uncertain about that, but it’s always an exciting time of year for book events and I’m sure there will be some spontaneous books tossed on the stack along the way as well.
I had hoped to get more reading in this summer too, but I have sickness to thank for my getting my last two books finished this month. I’m pretty sure I have completely ignored my reading challenges as of late. I either need to get with it or let it go . . . I hope you have a nice visit with your friends! A weekend trip sounds fun. 🙂
Kailana – I just saw that – yay! For a moment I was freaking out it wasn’t going to happen. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is going to read. Are you in?
Buried In Print – Isn’t it great when there’s a lot of reading variety? I always feel like that’s a sign of a good reading month. Looking forward to hearing about the chunky books you plan to read this season!
Literary Feline – I miss the days when I was able to get a lot more reading done but hopefully I can make some progress this weekend. Hope you are able to get more reading in this Fall too!
I know what you mean about the reading challenges, making lists is half the fun sometimes. Enjoy your weekend trip. I will be participating in the R.I.P. reading challenge too.
Reading challenges are fun, but I know I’ll fail to keep to them given my slow progress in reading and all that hectic life surrounding my girls. 😉 Still, they’re a great motivation and not to mention getting to know more blogging friends, too.
I completely failed at my challenge to read from my own books in August! There were too many new books that I wanted to try.
Hope you have a fun weekend get away with your friends !
A good month and lots of fun plans for September! 🙂
