Happy Friday! I hope you are all ready for the weekend. I know I am! So, let’s talk about how the month went.
I read some really good books this month and some that didn’t work. Two five star reads for me were Radium Girls by Kate Moore and May God Forgive by Alan Parks. I really enjoyed Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal and When the Stars Go Dark by Paula McLain. I appreciated the poetry collection of The Wild Iris by Louise Glück even if I didn’t really connect with it. Finally, I was very disappointed with Community Board by Tara Conklin.
As usual I’m carrying over a couple of books into July. Last month I also mentioned I was taking part in Cathy’s 10 Books of Summer reading project. I did start Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson and thought I would have it finished by now but it’s a bit slow going. Not in a bad way as I do like the descriptions of the scenery and weather elements but it’s not a fast read. I want to focus a bit on this  reading project as I’d really like to whittle down those 10 books I chose to read which have been sitting on my shelves for years.
July will be a hectic work month for me as I have a couple of additional work projects but it’s some exciting stuff. Or perhaps I’m just excited because I may actually have a vacation planned for the end of the month!! More on that to come.
So that’s a bit about things around here. I wish you all a wonderful weekend and I hope you read some great books!
I just started a book by Jeff Strand called Cyclops Road and it’s crazy fun. Hope you have a great weekend! 😀
I have Radium Girls on my summer TBR too! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I am promising myself a weekend of reading if I can also get some cleaning done. Oh, who am I kidding, I will read regardless, but my niece is coming to visit on Wednesday so I want the house to be tidier than it is now.
Radium Girls was fascinating, but heartbreaking, too. You might like the 2018 film, too… but of course the book is better. I’m going to add Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows to my tbr list -I enjoyed listening to The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters by that author a few years ago.
Radium Girls has been on my tbr list for a few years. We were just talking about it when we were traveling in Canada, camping for a couple of nights in a place called Radium Springs, British Columbia!
I hope you get to go on your vacation! Can’t wait to hear where you’ll escape to. Hope it’s somewhere cool!
