What a month! I hope you’ve all been doing well and reading some great books. I’ve had a good reading month but towards the end of April my reading started to fall off a bit as I’ve been so busy with work and life.
My husband went to Germany to visit his dad and had a great visit with him. I wish I could have gone but I can’t leave my mom alone. At least my husband did bring me a few treats/presents from Germany so that was fun!
Ok, so let’s get to the books. I read four books this month and they were quite enjoyable. First off, I read When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole. I remember hearing a lot about this book last year and I do think it was a good thriller but unfortunately the ending was a bit too out there for me.
I also read Piñata by Leopoldo Gout and The Green Road by Anne Enright. Very different reads and while I preferred Piñata, I think if you enjoy stories of family dynamics then The Green Road is a good choice.
Finally, I wanted to finish two books for National Poetry Month but only got to finish Goldenrod by Maggie Smith. What a wonderful collection. Of course, my goal is to continue reading poetry throughout the year but it’s been a good month to focus on poetry.
As far as May is concerned I don’t really have any reading plans and I kind of like that! I just want to read at whim and let’s see what I discover. How about you, how was your reading month and any reading plans for May?
I’ve checked out a bunch of books from the library to read in May…a mix of mystery and romance, like always. 😀
Your books all sound good this month. The Green Road sounds interesting…I usually enjoy reading about family dynamics. April was a decent reading month for me. I finished three books, but one was quite long. (Demon Copperhead) My list of May reading possibilities is meant more as inspiration than a schedule… we’ll see what happens. Happy May!
I’m sorry you couldn’t join your husband in Germany, but I’m glad he was able to go. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? You had a good month of reading, didn’t you? I wound up with a lot of library books and enjoyed most of them. May will be more focused on what I have on my shelves. So many have been passed along to me from my mom and she’s a very fast reader! I’m out of room on my TBR shelves, so I need to step it up!
