How was your month? August seemed really long for me and I may have been a bit absent from the blog but I have to say it was a great reading month. Every book I read was such a good read.
Woman at Point Zero, Elizabeth Is Missing, The Thursday Murder Club, The Whisper Man, My Grandmother’s Braid, Space Invaders and A Girl Returned.
Four of these were books for Women in Translation Month and they introduced me to memorable characters and left me wanting to read more by the authors. Of all of these books it’s hard to say which one was my favorite but I’d probably go with A Girl Returned.
August also closes out 20 Books of Summer. I started with a pile of 10 books and read three books from that pile over the summer. I may not have reached my goal but at least I read three books that had been on my shelves for ages. Thank you to Cathy for hosting this fun reading event.
I’m looking forward to fall, as summer in Texas is not my favorite time. I want to go back out and spend more time in nature and cozy evenings with books. Granted, it’s not like our temps will be very cool but as long as we’re below the high 90s I’ll be happy.
Now when it comes to books I’m sure you’ve all heard about Readers Imbibing Peril right? It’s going to be so much fun. This is one reading event I never miss. I plan to spend some time looking through my bookshelves for some potential reads. Are you joining?
I hope you had a great reading month and would love to hear what was your favorite read.
Hey Iliana! Yes, I’m planning on joining in on RIP, through my blog anyway. Fall just seems to require books that have spooky themes and mysteries, of course, are my normal reading area. I’m trying to read more and worry less these days. Some days are easier than others. Hope fall will let things settle down in so many ways. Take care and I’ll be watching for what you’re reading…
I love reading books that fit that R.I.P. vibe…especially this time of year as we head from summer into fall. 🙂
I see you read My Grandmother’s Braid – I really enjoyed that one. Now finishing up a few books so I can delve into my RIP stack – have fun.
Like Lark, I love reading books that fit into the R.I.P. category even though I no longer actually join the challenge. The most interesting book I read in August might be Burntcoat which has stayed with me as I ponder what I think about it. I really liked The Bombay Prince by Suhata Massey.
Maybe by October we will finally get some more autumn like temps, but still hot and humid here, too.
Hi Iliana, I’m glad you enjoyed your August reads. I read more during the cooler months also since I’m indoors more during my free time. I will be participating in Readers Imbibing Peril this year too. Happy reading!
It’s a great sense of accomplishment to read from our shelves, isn’t it? I focused on all of my own books (print & audio) for the summer reading challenge and now I have a stack ready to go for the RIP challenge. I’m participating in that unofficially and will be reading mostly mysteries and thrillers. I no longer read gothic or super creepy books.
Funny that you’re ready for cooler temps and I’m still waiting for something warmer than 60! 😉
