I hope you all had a great weekend and for those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving that it was a lovely time. We had a really nice time just enjoying some days off. My big plans to be out in nature didn’t quite happen as we had a lot of rainy weather but Thanksgiving day we were able to enjoy a nearby trail so that was a lot of fun.
Now I almost hesitate to do a monthly wrap up because friends, I only read one book this month. My big plans of German Lit Month, Nonfiction November and attending the Texas Book Festival (virtually) didn’t happen. I do have one book for each of the reading events still in progress and I actually did go to one virtual author reading but that was it. Luckily you can still watch the recorded festival author readings.
It’s a bit of a bummer of a reading month but maybe December will be better. Oh and which book did I finish? The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths. I really enjoyed this one and I believe book two in this series will be out early next year. Yay.
In November we enjoyed watching some movies/shows on Netflix like The Social Dilemma and Street Food: Latin America. We also watched California Typewriter and now I totally want a typewriter. I think this one would look great on my craft table.
Now it’s time to get ready for end of the year festivities which will most definitely be low key for us. I did do some shopping and I am almost embarrassed to tell you but I bought quite a lot of books this weekend. I know, I have shelves of books waiting to be read, ebooks and eGalleys but I got some great deals on some ebooks and I couldn’t resist. I also supported an indie bookstore and our local B&N.
I’ll try to tell you more about those reads in my next post. Would love to know if you also did some book buying.
I only read ONE book for German Lit Month! It wasn’t even long or big or thick, and I didn’t even blog about it! (Blogging has been a bit difficult for me with all the political upheaval in our country. I am loathe to arrive at a post which upsets me for the whole day, and I’ve removed myself from Instagram or even visiting Twitter.) Anyway, it was You Would Have Missed Me by Birgit Vanderbeke, and it was a wonderful book should you wish to pick it up. Peirene Press says you can read it in two hours, but I am not that fast of a reader; it took me a day or two.
I hope you get some time outside. We had much rain this past week, too, and now it’s cold, but it is lovely to be outside when we can. Xoxo
Your November looked much like mine… just one book finished despite big plans. The Stranger Diaries is on my list, so I’, glad to know you enjoyed. Here’s to more reading in December!
Bellezza – I know what you mean about wanting to stay away from social media. Whether it’s politics, the pandemic or any other number of things, I think too much only makes me stress out more so I have to put some distance. I’ll definitely look into the book you mentioned. I’ve heard about Peirene Press but actually don’t think I’ve read any of their books.
Joann@Gulfside Musing – Despite books being such a great source of comfort I find it hard to concentrate. I blame it all on the pandemic! Yes, here’s to a better reading month in December!
I am glad the rain subsided enough for you to spend time outdoors on Thanksgiving Day. I did not read much in November either. Nothing to be ashamed of buying more books. 🙂 I think many of us can relate. I know I can! I hope you have a great December, Iliana.
