I have a few things to share:
First, the winner of Jeanine Cummins novel, The Outside Boy is Isabel (thanks to Random.org). Thank you to Jeanine for the guest post and to everyone who entered the giveaway. I hope to have a few more this summer so stay tuned.
I just posted the selections up for vote for the next Slaves of Golconda book discussion so take a look. Our next book selection will be a classic! Yes, because I have fallen behind on my goal to read more classics I’m making the Slaves read one with me. One of the choices is by an author we’ve previously read, H.G. Wells, but I still think of The Island of Dr. Moreau and get chills. That was such a great book. So hope you’ll think about joining us.
I finally finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest this afternoon. I was a bit underwhelmed by this book. The one character I love most is almost in the margins. There’s a romance angle I didn’t like, a lot of political stuff that wasn’t very exciting to read about and worst of all I didn’t feel the same page-turning suspense I felt with the other two books. Ah well, it was a good trilogy but I think my expectations were way too high for this one.
What else, oh yes, I saw this delightful bookmark. Isn’t it cute? I think I need to print a bunch of these and have them on hand.
I think that’s about it. Now to get my new book and go curl up in bed. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest as much as you did with the previous two instalments. Now you can pat yourself for completing this trilogy, yay! π As for me, I haven’t even started reading one yet!!
I love that bookmark! It’s adorable! π
Hope you’ve a great weekend ahead, Iliana!
I’m glad I am not the only one who was annoyed with the romance in Hornet. I am sorry you didn’t like it as much–it was definitely not what I expected and so it took me a little bit of time to get over that but I ended up enjoying it.
I am happy that I won! Yippee.
Thanks a lot.
I still think of Moreau from time to time too! That was a really good book, wasn’t it? Love the bookmark.
I never thought a simple bookmark would make me laugh! Out loud, too, in a library…
enjoy your weekend iliana. sorry you didnt like The Girl Who Kicked the HornetΓ’β¬β’s Nest too much.
I watched the movie The Island of Dr. Moreau and was very freaked out. I’ll have to check out the book.
I’m looking forward to joining in with the Slaves this month, and a classic will be fun! Love the bookmark π
Melody – The first two books are really great so I do recommend those. I’m glad I read this one but I definitely see where some stuff could have been edited out. Makes me wonder how much Larsson was able to edit while he was still alive. Anyway, hope you got to enjoy your weekend! π
Stephanie – That Figueroa character annoyed me to no end! I can accept that Mikael sleeps around but I found it hard to believe that he’d actually “fall in love” with her. Was it me or did she seem needy?
Isabel – Yay you. I hope you enjoy the book!
Stefanie – I do too. I was sort of rooting for the Time Machine but I’ll have to get to it one of these days!
Simon T – Ha,ha.. I’m glad you liked that!
bookworm – That’s right there is a movie version of that book. I don’t know if I could watch it. The book totally freaked me out. Hope you had a great weekend!
gentle reader – I’m so glad you’ll be joining us. I’m excited to read any of those π
I like H.G. Wells a lot and would like to read more of his work, but I was more curious at the moment to try Ivy Compton Burnett. I plan on reading the Larsson trilogy at some point–just not sure when I will fit it in!
