I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I ended up not having my family in town so that was a bummer but hopefully they’ll be able to come visit next month. I did get to see one of my dear friends on Friday though so we had a great time catching up over a delicious dinner followed by yummy coffee. Good times.
Today was pretty much spent with my mom watching Houseboat, news and a variety of other stuff. So despite wanting to catch up on my reading I didn’t make much progress and I may be in trouble because a ton of magazines have started to arrive.
I had forgotten that a couple of months ago I got a letter about some airline miles expiring and my husband and I chose a bunch of magazines and now I’m like what were we thinking? So we’ve got Health, Entertainment Weekly, Afar, Real Simple, Glamour, People and like I said, there are a bunch of others that are still on their way.
So I might be telling you about more stuff I find in magazines! I enjoy magazines but with so many I get the feeling I’m going to have a hard time keeping up with them. Good thing is that these are pretty easy to get through as it’s a lot of advertising and I can always take these to the office too and pass them around. Oh and I could use some of these for my art journaling now that I think about it.
So do you have a lot of magazine subscriptions? What are some of your favorites?
I used to have magazine subscriptions, but have let all of them go. I read Good Housekeeping for years. Also People and some mystery magazines. However, not anymore. I think I had a hard time keeping up with them too and most are available from the library, should I want to read them. LOL
I’ve let my magazine subscriptions lapse, but pick one up at the supermarket from time to time if the check out line is long. I also read them on my iPad via Zinio from the library. Recently I resubscribed to The New Yorker… I seem to get behind on them very quickly. We’ll see how it goes this time.
I used to subscribe to a few but have terminated them after that last copy. They are a joy to read but they take up too much shelf space alongside my books so I decided one of them has to go. 🙁 However, I still buy magazines occasionally if the contents catch my attention.
wow! Good for you. I just cant’ find the time. I get the North Carolina magazine, the Nebraska magazine (totally different, now that I think about it!), a few yachting ones and some fashion catalogs – that ‘s about it. I glance quickly through and toss. I feel bad about it but not that bad.
Kay – I go through phases on magazine subscriptions but this time it’s really overload. I kind of wish I could have gotten something else rather than magazines but oh well.
Joann@Lakeside Musing – You know, I tried reading them on Zinio and couldn’t really get into them. I probably should give that another go. I should be getting a New Yorker soon too! I’m looking forward to it.
Melody – They definitely take up a lot of room don’t they. I tend not to keep them anymore and either donate them or pass them along to friends.
Care – Well so far I think the magazine pile is winning because I’ve fallen way behind already and new issues keep coming. haha.
I went through the whole over-sub and then panic-and-unsub-phase and have come out the other side again, so I’ve just started to resub to some that I really enjoy. The ones you’ve mentioned, I generally peruse from the library, if the mood catches me, but I do wish we subbed to a mainstream entertainment mag (maybe E Weekly or Rolling Stone) to keep me a little more up-to-date with some things. Soon I expect your posts will cover that off. Heheh My favourite currently is “The New Quarterly”, a Canadian literary journal with a particularly pleasing mix of artsy and commentary-styled pieces. Long-time faves include “Brick” (similar) and “Bookmarks” (for readers) and “Mslexia” (for writers).
