For me Valentine’s Day is not just about celebrating romantic love but also about friendship. I have an amazing group of girlfriends (had lunch with this girl today) and now I have found a lot of kindreds via the book blog world.
So I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day and here’s a little poem for you:
I wish I could remember the first day.
First hour, first moment of your meeting me;
If bright or dim the season, it might be
Summer or winter for aught I can say.
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom yet for many a May.
If only I could recollect it! Such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow.
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much!
If only now I could recall that touch,
First touch of hand in hand! – Did one but know!
~ The First Day by Christina Rossetti
Happy Valentine’s day to you, too. I love this header. And I love this poem. For me Valentine’s day has been about all kinds of love also. I remember when I was a kid my mom always made a big deal out of Valentine’s and how much she and my dad loved us. Then my dad would come home from work with chocolate for my brother and flowers for my sister and I. I just love spreading the love around and Valentine’s is a perfect excuse for it.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well! Even though I’m single, I really like that day, because it’s always been about a bunch of kinds of love for me too. 🙂 Mom always got us jewelry, and I love hanging out with friends. Tomorrow, my niece and I are going to go to a matinee-yay!
