September was quite a good reading month for me as I read nine books. I don’t think the upcoming months will be that great simply because I have to spend a bit more time in my bookbinding studio preparing for the holiday season and of course, work too. But, you never know though so I’ll remain hopeful.
One of my priorities will be to read my books for the R.I.P. Challenge. I’m half way through one book so that’s good. My participation in other challenges comes and goes. Nothing new there. I’ve read 10 books in translation so far and I’d really like to up that number a bit more by the end of the year. Don’t get me started on classics. I think I’ve only read one this year. I guess one is better than none so there is that.
So my reading goals remain flexible and I like that.
Speaking of being flexible, I’ve just signed up for a 40 day yoga challenge. I do yoga 4-5 times a week so I’m hoping this challenge will seem like a natural progression for me. I don’t think I’ll be able to go to my yoga studio every day because I may have a couple of quick trips but that doesn’t mean I can’t practice yoga on the go. So wish me luck and of course you know I’ll keep you posted. Hope you don’t mind.
Ok back to the books. I haven’t forgotten that I mentioned a giveaway. I promise to post a quick book review tomorrow and a giveaway so come back. I’ll give you a hint, the book is a mystery and it’s really good. In case you won’t be able to check back in though, happy weekend!
Looks like you’d a great reading month, Iliana! The average no. of books I read in a month is 6, at most seven. As for RIP Challenge, I’m sad to say I’ve only read two short stories in a volume so far. I might have to look for another book besides reading this anthology for this challenge, but then I haven’t decided so we shall see.
Hope you’ve a great weekend ahead! 🙂
I absolutely love yoga, and it’s been much to long for me since I took a class. I’m been thinking about trying Bikram Yoga (hot yoga). My friends are raving about it!
Wow, 40 day yoga progression sounds good! 9 books is totally awesome, i got 5 done this month so i m very happy about that…that is the max i have got through i think in a month. i know for me too the next two months are going to be hectic, something inside me tells me that 🙂
when i have had a good reading month, i generally have a bad one following that – BUT i signed up for 31 shots of shock AND dueling monsters, i really don’t know what i was thinking, but I really wanted to read Dorian Gray with Softdrink of Fizzy Thoughts 🙂
I hope we can see some of the bookbinding projects, you used to post pics 🙂
i hope you have a great weekend ahead 🙂
Yay for a great reading month! Good luck on the yoga program. Which book was your favorite this month?
Melody – Five to six books is usually my average too. I was able to have a good reading month thanks to vacation! 🙂 I’ve fallen so behind on reading short stories. I do have a collection of Daphne DuMaurier short stories which would be perfect for RIP! I need to read faster!
Coffee & a Book Chick – I’ve never done Bikram and think I’d probably pass out! haha… I do hatha mainly but I also try to practice yoga nidra once a week. It’s so amazing. Hope you get to a class soon 🙂
Veens – You’ll do great with your 31 Shots of Shock. You have to because I want to read some of your suggestions! haha… I know I’ve been so bad about not posting pictures of my bookbinding projects but it’s basically because I haven’t been working much on bookbinding lately. I sort of took a break from it all over Spring and Summer but I’m really looking forward to starting up again. This weekend the glue is coming out!
Vasilly – Thank you so much! I feel so bad that I didn’t post on my favorite book and it was such a good one, Summer by Edith Wharton. Such a rich story filled with all kinds of symbolism.
9 books is an awesome achievement when you have so many other things going on at the same time. The yoga challenge sounds awesome and will leave you feeling GREAT, I’m sure.
I like flexible reading goals as well! And good luck on the yoga challenge!
Good luck with the yoga, perhaps I need just a 30 day exercise program.
I am woefully lax about reading classics too. I need to be better about that!
Enjoy your yoga challenge. I love yoga, but I haven’t done it in months. Bad, I know!
I’ve gone high tech and have a nifty spread sheet where I keep track of the books I’ve read. I’m not sure how many classics I’ve finished this year–I wonder if it’s ten even… Lately I’ve been reading loads of mysteries, though, so I bet I’ll have read more than last year. Have a great weekend!
Your yoga challenge sounds wonderful! I hope it goes well. It will be interesting to see what it’s like.
9 books is great 🙂 I barely managed 3.
I’m alomst done with the R.I.P Challenge also. I do tend to kind of forget the other challenges…lol.
Good luck with the yoga!
Your yoga challenge:
is it done from a studio?
An on-line challenge?
Or a goal that you set for yourself?
Good on you for participating in the yoga challenge. I do yoga several times a week too. Completing my yoga teacher training is the most valuable thing I ever did in terms of personal development. I can’t wait to hear how it goes!
The Yoga Challenge sounds like fun. I recently one a yoga gift bag: mat, towel, exercise ball etc, but need to find a class somewhere…LOl
good for you on keeping flexible book goals.
And happy yoga-ing!
Hi Guys – Thanks so much for the encouragement on the yoga challenge. It’s an event sponsored by my yoga studio but it’s not so much that you have to go there every day. It’s more of a personal intention to do yoga every day – even if it’s at your home, office, car, whatever. Just take some time every day to be mindful. I’m trying to get to the studio every day but we’ll see how it goes 🙂
I’m looking forward to getting one of your notebooks for a Christmas present this year and I love your work, so nice to hear you’re going to be binding – are you making gifts for people this year, or focusing on stocking your shop?
