I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend. I feel like I spent half of it doing laundry as our washing machine went kaput last month and we had to wait several weeks to get a new one. Other than that, not much to report.
I did start State of Terror by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny. I typically don’t read political thrillers but this one is quite a page-turner and I’m really enjoying it. I have so many questions about how the writing process must have been like but I’m going to wait to look into that after I finish the book. I do need to focus on this one a bit more as I’ll be discussing it with my reading group next week.
Today we did manage to get out of the house for a quick visit to Barnes & Noble and although of course going to the bookstore is always fun, I have to say it was so disappointing to see the magazine racks. So many of my favorite magazines are either not stocked or I’m wondering if they are no longer in print.
We were almost getting ready to leave when I saw Wonder Seeker by Andrea Scher and had a quick flip through. I’ve followed Andrea through her blog for many years and always enjoy her thoughts on creativity and being open to new adventures. I will definitely add this book to my wishlist.
So that’s a bit of what’s going on over here. I do have a very exciting post coming up to share with you some stationery love. So if you are a lover of notebooks, pen cases and leather goods then stay tuned!
In the meantime, have a fantastic week ahead!
Glad your new washer came in, Iliana. Ours had to be replaced when we moved here in 2021 and then it’s been in and out and in and out of the house because of the renovations. I have formed a nice relationship with a nearby washeteria. I will say that it’s amazing the size of washers and dryers that are now available there. I just throw everything in one washer and dry in one dryer. Maybe not perfect for the clothes, but I’m in and out quickly. Hoping we won’t have to move anything out again as we are winding up the renovations. Have a good week!!
I think I have a copy of State of Terror somewhere around here. My mom read it and said it was good, but I wasn’t really interested. If you say it’s a page-turner and that you’re enjoying it, maybe I’ll give it a try.
When I worked at B&N, swapping out the new magazines for the old was part of my job for a while. It always amazed me how many magazines there were, but over the years, I noticed so many that had ceased to exist. I think it’s a tough industry and a lot of people prefer to read that sort of thing online. My husband worked for a publisher of magazines for several years and I don’t think any of the various publications are in print any longer. It’s sad, isn’t it?
I’ve been curious about State of Terror so I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it. Perhaps I’ll add it to my wishlist and wait for the right mood to read it.
Glad you were able to finally get a new washer! As for stationery, always a fan! 🙂
I look forward to your upcoming news. It sounds good. I think I need to read State of Terror …. it seems topical.
