We spent most of the day at the East Austin Studio tour and had a great time. I lost track of how many artists’ studios we saw but one that stood out in my mind was that of a bookbinder. All of her books were leather bound and with some great textured paper. I saved her card somewhere as I may have to treat myself to a nice journal.
As we were driving back home my husband and I dreamt about one day having a real studio. Right now one of our bedrooms is dedicated as our project room but it’d be nice to have more room and of course be able to decorate. Well, hopefully one day.
Anyway, I’m going to take a little bloggy break because I need to work a bit on adding stuff to my shop and I’m off to Dallas to visit my mom and friends. I’m hoping to stay away from Paper Source but I can’t promise. I have heard that Dallas has a new independent bookstore so I’ll have to check that out.
I am taking a few books with me which include: Who by Fire which I’m about half way through and am enjoying it. I’m racing through Anatomy of a Boyfriend, which I’m finding to be such a good depiction of all the angst of first love. And, I’ve got a wonderful mystery going on, The Blackstone Key, which is one of my books for the First in a Series challenge.
I hope everyone has a great week ahead and if you celebrate Thanksgiving enjoy it! I’ll be back, hopefully with lots of reviews, by next weekend.
Having a real studio of your own would sure be nice, I imagine. When my brother moved out of my parents’ house, my mother converted his room to her sewing room, only now it’s more like my dad’s stamp room. 🙂
Enjoy your blog break. Have fun in Dallas!
Have fun and keep dreaming about your studio. Dreams can come true!
Have fun visiting your friends and family.
If my father wins the lotto, and I get some money, I will give you some for a studio.
That tour sounds like so much fun! I hope you can have a studio one day, too. That used to be a dream of mine as well. Now I just need an extra house to hold all my books.
That indie bookstore is sexyyyy! I don’t get out to Plano very often, but if I do I’m definitely dropping in.
Happy Turkey Day to you and enjoy the company with friends and family! I won’t be traveling to Hong Kong this year so I have to learn the proper etiquette of the holiday seasons. I think I should look for a book on that subject! 🙂
At least go inside the bookstore and breathe the air of books. 🙂
Enjoy your break and have fun in Dallas! May your dreams come true very soon!!! 🙂
I’m not certain how anyone could make more beautiful and desirable journals than you! Have a good break.
Thanks for letting us know about that new Indie Bookstore in Dallas!! I’ve been looking for a good Indie Bookstore there.
The artist studio tour sounds like fun. I love seeing where people are creative! I can definitely see you two having a proper studio one day – it will be just a matter of where!! You would love where we are staying – just around the corner from Woodstock, NY. Lot’s of wonderful small galleries and book stores. Made me think of you…
I hope you have a nice week in Dallas and a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
I hope you get your studio someday! Happy Thanksgiving!
Have a great trip!
Have a fun time. That indie bookstore looks AWESOME!!! I need to tell my Dallas/Ft. Worth pals about it. Let us know what you think when you get back.
Have fun in Dallas with your mom! I wish I could have a studio, too–maybe I would spend more time on my crafts! And I look forward to hearing about the Blackstone Key. I didn’t realize it is the first in a series–I also have it on my TBR pile.
I’d love to have a room where I could work on stuff and not have to worry about the cats getting into everything! Hope you have a nice visit in Dallas!
Wanted to drop in and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, Iliana! Have fun!
I have Who By Fire, too–haven’t started it yet, would love to hear what you think! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving 🙂
Hi Guys – I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to respond but my email access was kind of limited while I was away. Look forward to catching up! 🙂
