I’ve been doing very good about reading books mainly from my stacks but I got notice that two new library books were being held for me so I had to go get them. They sound so good and I’ve been waiting for them but do I stop reading my other books? Hmm, I’m afraid that if I even start one for a sneak peak I won’t want to stop.
Wanna hear what I got? The Sonnet Lover by Carol Goodman. I have really enjoyed her books and am hoping this one will be just as good. Actually I still need to read The Ghost Orchid as well but as Sonnet Lover is the latest one then that’s the one I want to read now. My other book is A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny. Her first book introducing Inspector Gamache was one of my favorite mysteries read last year so I’m looking forward to see what happens next in the series.
And, to make things even better I had a copy of The Poisoned Pen Press catalog waiting for me. Between this one, Bas Bleu, and Hesperus Press, I’m beginning to feel it’s time for a book splurge. What do you think?
Anyway it’s been raining all evening so I haven’t done anything but read tonight. No gym, no grocery store, no errands, just books. A good night.
Yeah, it is raining here too! Very yucky, we have had a lot of rain lately. I think we should be thankful, though, I would much prefer rain to a drought! And, it is always good for a book splurge, especially if you have been being good, it is nice reward yourself because then it feels worth it. 🙂
Sorry about the rain. I’ve been hearing about the flooding in your part of the country and hoping you’re okay. I say you’re right, it’s time for a book splurge! Go for it!
Oh yes, go for the splurge! I’ve been feeling the urge too! 🙂
I love to curl up with good books when it’s raining. Make yourself a nice pot of tea (if you like that kind of thing) and there’s nothing more cozy!
The Sonnet Lover sounds soooo good. Glad you mentioned that one.
Yes, splurge. I will have to live vicariously through you — we know have to think about things we collect and future space! =)
Kailana – I’m getting ready to build an ark. We never get rain in the summer and now we are swamped with it. It’s nice but I’m missing the sun big time 🙂
Gentle Reader – We are doing good and I guess it’s good for the backyard and all but I feel so bad for people who’ve been flooded. Sad.
Tanabata – I’ve been so busy at work today but in the back of my mind is the book splure. I think I’ll do that tonight! 🙂
Kelly – I do like tea but half of the time I’m too lazy.ha. I think tonight I will have to make some though because we are in for more rain throughout the weekend.
Christine – You bad influence you! 🙂 I’ll let you know what I find.
I hope you’ll enjoy “The Sonnet Lover”. I just finished it a few days ago; very good, I thought! I’ve read all her books and this was up to her standard. (although I liked “The Seduction of Water” best so far.)
And with 3 presses tempting you, I think it is just about time for a splurge. I’ve been feeling the same way every time I look at Hesperus. 🙂
Ghost Orchid would be perfect for a rainy day! Hope it clears soon.
I almost picked up a copy of The Ghose Orchid yesterday while out on a book shopping spree, but I ended up passing it over for another book. I’ll be curious to read your thoughts on it when you finish with it.
I feel terrible for all the areas impacted by flooding. Instead, my part of the country is facing fire. Fortunately the one near where I live was contained and put off rather quickly, but my heart goes out to the people in Lake Tahoe who have lost their homes and all of their possessions. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Yes, definitely time for a splurge!! I just finished a book, so I think I will be starting The Sonnet Lover very soon! I have been trying hard to read my own books, too. I do know I have several movies waiting for me at the library, though!!
I love Carol Goodman’s work, so to hear there’s a new one out is great. I’m off now to see if it’s available in the UK yet. Thanks.
Melanie – Yay, I hadn’t heard anything about the book yet so good to know you enjoyed it. I am hoping to start it this weekend.
LK – Still no end in sight to the rain… Grr… thank goodness books help my mood 🙂
Literary Feline – I swear I think Mother Earth is trying to tell us something. Every day it seems there is some new natural disaster. So sad.
Danielle – Oooh what movies do you have waiting for you? Can’t wait to hear about those. You always find such interesting films!
Ann – Isn’t she great? Her books are just so readable. They are easy to get into and get lost in. Love that.
