Emails went unanswered and laundry was left untouched, basically, I let everything pile up this weekend. Sometimes you just have to do that right? I had had quite a tough week at work so I was not in the mood to do much of anything.
I did however have a great time catching up on my reading. While I waited for some service on my car, I spent the morning at Borders reading some of the latest magazines like Venuszine and Body & Soul. I just had to read Body & Soul as they had an article on de-stressing. Why is it that all the tips sound so easy and doable yet when you are in stress mode the last thing you think about is the breathing or visualization or whatever? Hmm, I don’t know, chocolate does seem to help me. heh.
I also tried to get Suite Française as it’s the April read for my foreign authors book group but the paperback edition isn’t out just yet (for those of you who want that one, mark your calendars it’s out on Tuesday). So when I got home I promptly ordered it on Amazon. Yay an Amazon box will be on my doorstep this week.
I also started Storm Front, one of my choices for the Once Upon a Time Challenge, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Actually I am this close to finishing it. I have a couple of other good books to tell you about too so hopefully tomorrow I’ll get to those.
I’m doing six loads tonight! The washer and dryer are oh so mad at me. ;D
Sometimes it’s good to do NOTHING on a weekend. Hope you had fun catching up on your reading. I finally did 2 books in 1 week! 🙂
Sometimes you just need a break. I know I have that book: Storm Front. Now I must find it!!!!
So glad to hear you’re enjoying Harry and Storm Front! The series is getting better and better. I’m waiting for White Knight – it’s got quite the hold list at my library.
:0 Lots of laundry goin’ on! Too much to do besides chores this weekend. Glad to hear you are enjoying Storm Front…I may have to dip into the Dresden Files.
Doing a whole lot of nothing sounds marvelous. Hope that and the chocolate and the reading helped you de-stress 🙂
Girl, I’m so glad you had a lazy weekend. You needed that. Laundry, yikes, I’m on my fifth load today and maybe one more to go. I just came back from the grocery store and the post office was a mad zone so I’ll have to try in the afternoon. Tonight I’m getting back to my reading though, way too much house work, so little time for me.
I hate laundry. I hate chores and cleaning in general. It takes away fun time!!
I need to become a member of the Dallas Public Library and look to see if they have Suite Française. If not…I will be hitting Amazon myself.
I totally know what you mean about all these de-stress articles but does it defeat the point when I actually have to try and find time for all that wonderful de-stressing and in the processed get stressed out. Haha. OK – perhaps I exaggerate because it all sounds like a good idea!
Look forward to hearing more about your book finds!
Maggie – Don’t make me feel guilty 🙂
Kisane – I agree. I need to visit you and see what books you read!
Nancy – Hope you find the book, it’s a good one.
Chelle – I’m glad to hear that. I will definitely be reading more of it.
Jenclair – It’s definitely light reading but it is fun.
Stefanie – It did help my spirits a lot! I didn’t even mind coming in to work on a Monday – ha,ha.
Shadan – Have fun catching up on your reading and I’ll write you an email soon 🙂
Christine – Who has time for chores when there’s all that reading to be done right? I say if you have a close enough branch of the DPL to you then it’s a good thing to get that card. I haven’t been there in a long time but don’t they also have like a “library sale” room open on the weekends or something? Hmm, stuff to investigate 🙂
I love Body+Soul so much that I subscribed and they are going to send it over to Australia. Its very inexpensive to subscribe..
Suite Francaise is really wonderful – easily one of the best books read last year.
Sometimes it’s relaxing to do nothing. Once in a while (usually once every two months) I would even drop my books over the weekend and take up other activities like a day hike or fishing, especially when my brain doesn’t register what I read!
I also tried to get Suite Française and thank you so much for the news of its trade paperback release! 🙂
Kate – I do keep up with Body & Soul too but I am surprised it’s inexpensive for you to subscribe. That’s great! I’m definitely looking forward to Suite Francaise.
Matt – I think that’s a great idea. I really need to work more at finding time to relax and just be you know.
Weekends can actually be a drag sometimes–trying to get caught up on all the chores there is no time for during the week! It’s nice sometimes to just blow it off and relax! I am also planning on getting the Nemirovsky–I may have to swing by the bookstore later this week!
Danielle – I totally agree! To be honest, I’m not sure I’m in the mood for Suite Francaise but as I’ve heard lots of good things about it then I can’t help but want to read it.
