I’m sorry for the absence here and around blogland but unfortunately the past week has not been an easy one. My mom fell at home and while at first we thought maybe she had just pulled a muscle, in fact she ended up having a fracture. She’s been in the hospital for seven days now and had a successful surgery but we’re still trying to get her a bit more stabilized.
I’ve basically been living at the hospital with my mom. My husband has been a saint going back and forth bringing us stuff. We thought she was going to be discharged today but the doctors recommended she continue to stay.
Needless to say this was not the news we were hoping for and our spirits are pretty low. Thank goodness for my dear friends and family who’ve sent us prayers and positive thoughts, and for my work family who’s been supportive.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones. If you pray or feel like sending positive thoughts, I’ll take them!
Big hugs,
Iliana
My dad and I are praying for all of you.🌺
So very sorry to hear about your mom. Hoping she makes a full recovery and is out of the hospital soon.
So sorry about your mom’s fall, fracture and extended hospital stay. It’s so easy to fall as we age and balance becomes an issue for many seniors. Hope she is on the mend.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom! I hope she gets to come home from the hospital soon. Hang in there. Sending prayers and best wishes your way this week!
I was so sorry to read about this on IG, Iliana. Did she fracture her leg/hip or arm/shoulder? I hope she isn’t in too much pain. And how great that the hospital allowed you to stay with her. I know it’s not the Christmas you had anticipated, but I’m glad it wasn’t anything worse. Sending you lots of love and hugs. I’ll keep your mom in my thoughts and hope she is discharged soon! Take care of yourself, too! xo
I am so sorry for your mom, Iliana. I hope that she will be able to leave the hospital soon. I know it cannot be easy for you all, especially this time of year. I am glad you have some outside support. Sending hugs and good thoughts!
Isabel – Thank you so much girl. I hope you and your parents are doing well!
Melissa F. – Thank you and yes, she was finally released on Sunday. So happy to be home and now to continue recovering!
Diane – You are right and it’s so scary. We’ve had several family members suffer falls and surgeries. Luckily she is home now!
Lark – Thank you for the prayers. My mom was released and I’m so happy because I know she was just so miserable in the hospital even though the staff was great. Nothing beats being at home though right?
Lesley in OR – Unfortunately she had a hip fracture so she ended up with a partial hip replacement. The surgery went really well but of course the recovery is not that easy. I think the hospital was probably happy I was there as I could tell they were short staffed at times and I was able to help change sheets, change my mom, etc. So glad to be home now!
Literary Feline – It’s so hard to go through something like this and especially when we have no family in the country but luckily we got through that and now to begin her physical therapy to recover!
Loads and loads of hugs your way too. I see from the comments above that your mum was discharged from the hospital. That’s great news! I hope she’ll be up and about soon. Best of season’s greetings to you and your family, and I hope 2022 is a great year ahead. ~Lex
