I don’t know about you but I’m holding on to the last few hours of the weekend. How did it fly by so quickly? I had a nice weekend but a lot of it was spent running around and now I’m a bit tired and looking at a desk area that is filled with notes about things I still need to get done.
But let’s talk about one fun part of the weekend and that was a stop at the bookstore that involved buying a book and picking up some other reading material.
I didn’t go to my new mystery book club meeting as I didn’t get a chance to read the book in time and I’d hate for my second visit to the group be about me making excuses. I hope to go next month though. So anyway with some free time available I ended up going to BookPeople.
I thought I might find some Christmas presents but I am always so bad about waiting until the last minute to get the presents so what do I do? Buy something for me instead. I got One Day by David Nicholls.
Then I picked up the latest copy of BookPage because you know I need more books for my list. Hee. I also picked up BookPeople’s December newsletter which has a lot of great gift ideas. Have you seen 20 Under 40? I missed the New Yorker issue and now the stories are collected in a book.
Anyway, that’s a bit of my weekend. I hope you had a wonderful one. I am off to continue reading my current read. More book talk tomorrow.
There is no better gift for yourself! One for you, two for me…that is way it is supposed to work. I loved that book. It will be on my list of favorites for the year.
One Day is in my mail box this week. I posted it today. I know what you mean about the weekend, I am sure it goes faster each weekend.
This sounds really lovely! I haven’t read One Day but it is my TBR.
Even the weeks begin to fly this close to Christmas!
Sandy – I agree! 🙂 And, really one of your favorites of the year? Wow, I’m glad I got it
vivienne – It’s so funny we’ve both been buying the same books. same book wavelength 🙂
Willa – Now I keep seeing that book everywhere! I want to start it now but I need to start another book for book club so it’s going to have to wait a bit more.
jenclair – So true. I wish I could hit a “pause” button so I could catch up on stuff you know.
I hope to get all my Christmas shopping done by the end of the week. I am about 75% done!
I just picked up Bookpage from the library last night but haven’t had a chance to look at it! Something to look forward to!
Stephanie – Oh that’s great! I think I’ve bought one present. Yikes! 🙂
danielle – I haven’t had a chance to really look through it either but I love it. I know you can get it online but I prefer the printed version don’t you?
I have One Day too but haven’t had the time to read it yet. I’ve heard good things about it and look forward to your review.
