What a nice weekend we had. Great weather, time with friends and even a visit to Half Price Books. I got to spend some time with one of my dear friends on Saturday. We went to lunch at a cool little place and then of course for some coffee. I found a great coffee shop and just wish it was a little closer to me so I could go visit again soon.
On my visit to Half Price Books I was hoping to find a couple of books for my upcoming book group meet ups but no luck. So instead I decided to look for some spooky reads and in particular I wanted to find books by Barbara Michaels. I lucked out and got two, Witch and The Crying Child. I don’t recall having read these before so I was happy to add them to my collection.
I’ve forgotten to mention that I have read a couple of short stories from Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. One in particular, The Crawl Space by Joyce Carol Oates, was really good. You can read an excerpt here but I warn you, you’ll probably want to find out what happens next so you’ll have to look for the magazine.
Quick post for tonight because I want to get back to my books before it’s time for bed. Let me know what you were up to this weekend and if you found any good books.
Hope you enjoy your new books!
A fun weekend! Enjoy your new books!
Hey–just finished The Crying Child and wrote about it–very much enjoyed it. It will be a treat to read!
Your weekends always sound so fun and relaxing!
🙂 I have not read anything by Barbara Michaels in years! I also loved her Amelia Peabody series written as Elizabeth Peters and even had one of her nonfiction books about Egypt at one time. The Barbara Michaels’ books would be great for R.I.P ! Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
Thanks for the warning about The Crawl Space by Joyce Carol Oates! It does sound good. Your weekend sounds wonderful, Iliana. I hope you are enjoying your week.
I read that excerpt and it sure sounds good. Hope you enjoy those books, Iliana. 🙂
