September you were a busy month filled with a lot of activity and I get the feeling the rest of the year is going to be just as busy but there were some great moments in September. Number one was going to the CREATE Mixed Media Retreat in Dallas. I got to take a class with artist Pam Carriker who was a delight. And, best of all I got to see my best friends. I love hanging out with the girls.
I also visited a wonderful indie bookstore in Dallas, The Wild Detectives. My friend Christine has been raving about it and so glad I finally got to visit it. That visit deserves a whole post on its own but for now I’ll just tell you that I picked up Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and my friend Isabel gifted me The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri.
What else? Well, I’ve been spending more time on crafting and other personal things and unfortunately my reading time has been very limited. Can you believe I am still reading a book from months ago? Yikes. I did finish one book for the R.I.P. Challenge though so that’s a good thing.
So, what do I want for this month? I want more reading time! I’m behind on all of my reading challenges so I would love to get one or two more books in for the challenges. I would also like to finish some of my books in progress.
There are lots of great things to look forward to this month for example the Texas Book Festival. Joyce Carol Oates is one of the many authors who’ll be making an appearance. I really want to hear her. I’m also planning a trip to Monterrey and I can’t wait to see my family. It’s been a long time since I’ve had the chance to visit.
Anyway, that’s what’s going on with me. How about you? What are your plans for October?
Sounds like September was a good month for you! I would have loved to attend Create–I received the notices, but couldn’t attend. I’m sure you got a lot out of Pam Carriker’s class and will have new books to show for it. Hope you enjoy October as much as September and get a lot of reading done–in between crafting!
Sounds like you’d a busy yet a good month in September. I can’t believe October is here; just think in two more months it’s the beginning of a new year.
Hope you’ll get more reading time as you wish this month. 🙂
I’ll be going to the Twin Cities Book Festival next weekend but we don’t have the likes of Joyce Carol Oates there! Even if you haven’t been reading as much it still sounds like things are good!
More time to read sounds so nice! I wish for that too. I hope you have a great time in Monterrey visiting your family. It’s so beautiful there.
The Wild Detectives sounds like a great bookstore. I made it to my local indie store last month–I rarely go since I’m reading more e-books these days and not really buying print copies of books.
This month I am trying to get as much done for Christmas as I can as well as take care of everything I need to before my surgery next month. October is going to fly by, I just know it.
September was very very busy for me too, because I was doing more craft-related things than anything else. I hope you and I get more reading time in October!
There is never enough time to get everything done you would like, is there?! I am still reading books from months ago, too, though I don’t have anything quite so exciting that I’ve been doing instead of reading! The Texas Book Festival sounds great–I hope you get to go–I would love to hear JCO speak!
