How did you get here so quickly? Well, I’m ready for cooler weather if not necessarily for all the craziness associated with the upcoming holiday season. I was at Hobby Lobby last week and I could barely find any Halloween items, it was all about Christmas.
Anyway, last night as I waited for the kids to come trick-or-treating, I started reading The Gates by John Connolly. I probably heard about this book before but I didn’t really remember what it was about so what a nice surprise to begin reading about a boy who is going out trick-or-treating. I swear, I’m not making this up. I just love it when little things like this happen. I’ve started the book and hopefully will be able to join Carin and her book group this weekend.
What else, oh, what scary movie did we watch last night? Well, I didn’t want to stay up too late so we had to go with something shorter than a feature length film and we watched Wallander: Faceless Killers. Have you guys watched this series? It’s good. We’ve seen a few other episodes and I really like it. I’ve read one of the books from which this series is based (actually, Faceless Killers) but I read that so many years ago before I got into my Scandinavian crime kick that I never really continued with any other Henning Mankell books. I really should continue with that series.
Finally, my month started off on a note. I got Half Price Books coupons in the mail and $5 in Borders Bucks. I’m ready for some book shopping, which of course will have to wait until the weekend, but isn’t that a great way to start the week?
Ok, off to read more about a little boy’s adventure.
How time flies! You know, I was quite taken aback when I saw a supermart already had their Christmas decorations up when I went for our grocery shopping last week. I take that as a cue that we should start shopping for Christmas gifts soon. 😛
Speaking of scary movie, I watched The Vampire Diaries on Saturday night (well not that it’s scary) and I was so excited that this TV series are finally shown here! (Been waiting for this for a long time! Was thinking of even buying the DVDs at some point.)
BTW, I’ve sent you an email earlier. 😉
I have a Henning Mankell book on my shelf and have just not picked it up yet. I need to do that.
I didn’t have a single trick-or-treater and was so disappointed. Oh well. More candy for me!
Isn’t that fun when life and reading overlap like that? That’s one of my favorite things.
Enjoy your book shopping!
Seriously — how did November 2010 get here so fast? Frightens me more than Halloween!
And I love Vampire Diaries!! You can also watch the episodes on http://www.hulu.com for free!
Happy November to you! How do you get coupons from the Half Price Bookstore.?
I’m freaking out just a tiny bit over the fact that it is November already. That means I have to start thinking about holiday shopping, and my whole Christmas card process I go through (which get mailed out the day after Thanksgiving just to make my friends mad). I totally did not get into Halloween this year…no scary books, no scary movies, didn’t even carve a pumpkin. I think I need to slow down!
Time really does fly, doesn’t it? One part of my mind understands, but another part is always astonished!
I loved The Gates! I hope you are enjoying it too. Samuel and his little dog Boswell cracked me up. I got those HPB coupons too but I went there last weekend so probably can’t justify going back even with a coupon. Have fun!
I look forward to your thoughts on The Gates – I loved The Book of Lost Things, but I heard it was disappointing in comparison and so have been hesitant to pick it up.
Thanks for reminding me about the Wallander series — it sounds really good! I enjoyed the one book in the series I read, and I’ll be the TV series is fun too.
I have no idea how it’s November already either! Crazy, crazy, crazy!
I was shocked when I went into my local drugstore and found all of the Halloween stuff gone and aisles of Christmas decorations instead. Where did the time go?
I must have totally skipped over my HPB coupons! Need to go scour my email to find them. 😉 I’ve heard good things about The Gate though I haven’t read Connolly yet. Are you meeting Carin for a IRL group? Fun!
Enjoy November–Christmas season will soon be taking over full-throttle!
November arrived so quickly!
Very cool about The Gates, when reading a book coincidences like that happen to me also.
Enjoy your book shopping 🙂
