Halloween greetings to you! This month has definitely flown by and while it’s been super busy, I also took some time and did an altered book journaling course over the past two weekends. It was so much fun but I’ll have to share more about that in another post. Let’s talk about the monthly reads.
I read four books. I read The Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon; The Mountain View Murder by Patrick Kelly; Vampires of el Norte, by Isabel Cañas and Still Born by Guadalupe Nettel; translated by Rosalind Harvey. Still Born was an amazing read that it’s no wonder it was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize this year.
I didn’t quite complete my R.I.P. reading challenge but the three books I read for it (one in September and two this month) were very enjoyable. I do have another spooky read on audio right now and hopefully will finish it this week.
Looking forward to November, there are a lot of reading events around blog land but even though I want to join them all I think this year I’m going to only focus on two of them. If I happen to read books that fall into the other categories great but not going to be that intentional about planning my reading. Anyway, I’ll talk more about the reading events in my next post.
Now it’s time to grab some treats for tonight so I can settle down with a good book. I hope you’ve had a wonderful reading month and let me know if you are planning to do any of the November reading challenges.
Hope you had a good Halloween. I’ll have to check out Still Born. I don’t know it. Is it a spooky story? Enjoy your week.
My month was pretty slow with regard to reading, but I’m looking forward to Nonfiction November. Just need to hurry up and finish my current read (fiction)!!
Our Halloween was very quiet, but it feels like the next couple of months are going to be super busy. Part of me is already looking forward to the calm of January. 😉
I’m just trying to finish up Susan’s Bookish Books Reading Challenge this month and next. No new challenges for me. Though I do always try to read a few nonfiction books every November.
The Children on the Hill is one of my favourite Jennifer McMahon book! I’ll have to check out Still Born. 🙂
I look forward to hearing more about the altered book journaling course you took! I am glad you enjoyed it. I hope you have a great November in reading!
