Sorry to have gone a bit silent over here and around the blogosphere but I’ve just been feeling a bit of spring fever so I haven’t felt very much like blogging. Work has been crazy and then when I get home from work it’s to spend time with my mom who needs more of my attention, run errands, etc. and before I know it the day is gone. I did take a couple of naps this weekend so that was a nice way to recharge.
Yes, there is still piles of laundry, my studio is a mess and I’m totally behind on so many other things but I am so glad I spent some time reading and napping this weekend.
Anyway, there have been some exciting things going on over here too such as going to book group last week. Wonderful time with my group and we discussed The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn, which was not a favorite read. My husband and I are also planning our summer vacation, yay! And, last but not least, I think I found a new yoga studio! I’m going to check it out this week and hopefully sign up for classes.
I am so glad spring is here because I love to hear the sounds of the birds, seeing the signs of spring in the garden and longer days. So here’s to feeling more refreshed and getting back into the groove. Let me know what you’ve been up to and if you are looking forward to anything in particular this spring.
Our birds are so vocal now! I have been weeding (then suffering a little from the unusual stress to muscles I haven’t used for a while) and enjoying the way everything, is having growth spurts, including the weeds. From one day to the next the changes are visible.
Yay for your new yoga studio!
I enjoyed The Woman in the Window, but don’t care for the author now that I’ve read about his personal life. Did your book club members know about the New Yorker article before they read the book? I’m happy to hear the birds chirping in the morning, as they are my only alarm clock these days. I’ve recently started attending yoga classes on Tuesday mornings and am hoping to join another on Thursdays. I wish I could afford to go every day! We are on our first camping trip of the year and it was gorgeous yesterday, but the rain arrived this morning, so I plan to write a few book reviews and curl up with my current book later this afternoon. I may even take a nap! I can’t wait to hear about your vacation plans. Are you heading back to Germany? Have a good week, Iliana!
I’m jealous about your summer vacation and I don’t even know where you’re going. I hope it’s some where fabulous! 🙂
Jen Mullen – Such a great sound when you walk outside right? We have got to get to doing some garden work soon too so hopefully we’ll get to that this weekend. I say we, but honestly my husband is who ends up doing the most. I’m just the one who decides which plants to get 🙂
Les in OR – We did read the article and I think that might have influenced some of the members of the reading group. I thought the book was such a quick read because it really grabbed your attention but hearing about his story makes you think what a character! He could be a character in a book! We’re actually going back to the Netherlands this summer. So excited as we really loved it there when we visited a couple of years ago. I can’t wait to catch up on your blog and read about your camping trips & book reviews.
Lark – Haha… I’ve gotten so spoiled about going somewhere every year but last year we weren’t able to travel so needless to say I’m so anxious to take off and see new sights and all that! 🙂
Wow — such a fascinating and scary story about A.J. Finn. It would definitely add to the discussion!
The Netherlands — oh, so exciting! I visited several years ago, and I have such fond memories. Seeing the Anne Frank House was the fulfillment of a lifetime dream.
I found The Woman in the Window to be an average read. I didn’t know about the author’s news only after reading the book a while back and boy, I was shocked.
No matter where you decide to go for the summer vacation, I hope you and your husband have a wonderful time. 🙂
Unruly Reader – It is crazy isn’t it? So curious if his next book is a big a hit as this one given all the truths that have come out about him. Isn’t The Netherlands lovely? I have not been to the Anne Frank House but that’s on my list to visit one day too.
Melody – I thought it was such a fast read and there were some good descriptions but I thought there were a lot of inconsistencies in particular to her drinking and taking so much medication. I really was in disbelief that this woman would be standing with all that was in her system!
Spring has finally arrived here too according to my allergies. There are still patches of snow but my maple tree is flowering and the bids are swelling on my other trees and shrubs. Yay! Time to start doing some work out in the garden! Enjoy your own garden and all your doings!
