Hello Friends – I hope you are all doing well. I cannot believe how fast the year is flying by and there have been many times I’ve wanted to pop in here but one thing or another has kept me from doing so. First, I want to thank you again for all your kind comments and words of encouragement.
My mom has been recuperating but very slowly. She still hasn’t been able to regain use of her right hand and unfortunately she was trying to walk but had another fall a couple of weeks ago (she was walking on her own). Luckily she only bruised her ribs but these setbacks really take an emotional toll on her and me. I’ve told my mom no more walking without me until she can use her right hand so she can grip her walker. We have found a great physical therapist so I’m hopeful.
Speaking of physical therapy, I’ve also been going to PT for my shoulder and that has been very helpful so I’m hoping to put off any kind of shoulder surgery for a while.
It would be easy to become completely overwhelmed and frustrated with all of this and don’t get me wrong, there have been times all I wanted to do was runaway, but I’ve gone back to practices that I know I can’t put off as that’s what helps me during stressful times. For example, getting into an exercise routine and carving out time for self care. I’ve been walking more, journaling, and even have been doing some crafting.
Some recent favorite moments included a visit from one of my best friends who was in town a couple of weeks ago so we had a blast catching up over dinner and drinks. And, last week for my birthday I treated myself to a facial. It was bliss to relax.
I have a whole reading update but will save that for my next post, which I really hope won’t take me that long to put up on this space!
Stay well friends. I’ve missed our conversations and look forward to catching up with you.
Hi, Iliana! It’s always good to hear from you. I’m sorry your mom fell again, but glad she only bruised some ribs. I know I hate seeing my own mother get a little more frail with each passing year. Hang in there and keep taking care of yourself! Hopefully this summer will be full of good days. 😀
So nice to see your post pop up in my Bloglovin’ feed! I’m so sorry that your mom took another spill, though. That’s got to be discouraging for both of you. I’m glad PT is helping both of you and will send good thoughts your way. I hope you don’t have to have shoulder surgery! Happy belated birthday, Iliana. Take good care!
We have been missing you. I’m sorry to hear about your mom and her troubles, but you can feel very good about the care you are giving to her. Happy birthday (a little late) and I hope we hear from you again soon.
It’s good to hear from you, Iliana… you have been missed! I’m sorry to hear about your mother’s setback, but glad you are now taking time to take care of yourself. Sending best wishes for continuing recovery.
