I know we all have long lists of books that we want to get to one day. It seems that they are never ending right? Still that doesn’t stop me from adding more books to mine. Today I was going through one of my purses and came across a recent list I jotted down while at the bookstore one day and now I have to add these to my Bookpedia file.
Here are the books that I’ve added to my wish list:
- Swim to Me by Betsy Carter. This one sounds like it could be a sweet coming-of-age story. I like those.
- Saving the World by Julia Alvarez. I’ve read two books by Alvarez, one I liked and the other I didn’t so we’ll see what happens with the third book.
- They Did It With Love by Kate Morgenroth. Love and murder in the burbs.
- Touchstone by Laurie R. King. A thriller which seems to be getting a lot of good reviews.
- Night Train to Lisbon by Pascal Mercier.
For now I’m very excited at having received an advance copy of An Incomplete Revenge by Jacqueline Winspear. This is the fifth book in Maisie Dobb’s series and one I’ve been anxiously awaiting. If you want to read more about it check out Danielle’s recent review on it. Sounds great doesn’t it. I think my other reads will be put aside tonight.

I like your wish list. I finally gave in on mine.
I just spent some money on 5 Hesperus books. It’s cheaper than going to England to buy them, I suppose.
Some of the books in the 2008 Spring catalog are still not available in the US, so I will spend more money later.
Last night I ordered some mysteries from The Book Depository. The 3rd Rankin, the 2nd Mankell, the 2nd Maisie Dobbs etc. Oh and Still Life by Lousie Penny from your recommendation. I knew this reading series thing was going to be bad for my wallet! 😉
I’ve just bought Touchstone! Now I just need to find the time to read it.
Someone else recommended Touchstone and I am in line for Night Train to Lisbon–that one sounds really appealing. Have fun reading Maisie!
I’ve only read the first Winspear book, but numbers two and three and definitely in the TBR pile somewhere. Is she one of those writers who gets better as they get into the swing, or one who runs out of ideas and repeats the same formula? I’m guessing from what you’ve said, it’s the latter.
Bookpedia?! Another gadget I might have to have!
Great list, too. 😉
Isabel – Oh cool – which books did you get? Maybe on your next trip you can go to Hay-on-Wye.
Tanabata – That is the problem with series. You get hooked on one and there goes the budget! I loved Still Life. I believe the third one in the series comes out this Spring.
Dark Orpheus – You’ll have to tell us all about it. It definitely looks good.
Danielle – I did start Maisie last night. I’m loving it!
Ann Darnton – She definitely gets better and I like how she has really explored how WWI affected Maisie. I think in some series things get glossed over but she doesn’t do that.
Andi – I’ve been using Bookpedia for a while now and love it. The best part is that I can download my lists to my iPod. Which hopefully means not buying books I already own! ha,ha…
When it comes to buying books, I’ll squander all the money I have. I keep telling myself that switching to drip coffee for a week will earn me another trade paperback! 🙂
Enjoy the new Maisie Dobbs novel! I can’t wait to read it.
I’m eager to get my hands on the new Maisie Dobbs, too!
Matt – Ah it’s good to squander on books isn’t it 🙂 I always say I’m going to cut back on the expensive coffees too and I can’t.
Dorothy W. – I’ve started it and so far it’s really good. We even get to find out more about Maisie’s background. I thought we had covered quite a bit but new things are uncovered!
jenclair – I was really looking forward to it too. It’s such a great series.
I’m a big fan of the Maisie Dobbs series, and i would definitely backburner everything to read an advanced copy of the new one! I’ll be checking back to see what you think.
Ravenous Reader – Oh believe me, the two other books I’m reading are definitely at the bottom of the stack now! 🙂
Sometimes I find slips of paper with the name of a book I meant to add to my wishlist in the strangest places. 🙂
