What a mixed bag this past weekend was. I had the chance to see one of my oldest and dearest friends so that was wonderful. Unfortunately I was a bit under the weather Saturday so that wasn’t as great but I’m feeling better now. Too much excitement I think! Ha.
So unfortunately that also meant I didn’t get to check out the Austin International Poetry Festival. I so wanted to go. Oh well, now I’ll just have to look for another poetry reading.
One place we went to discover was the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. This place is so close to me but for some reason I’ve never visited. We had a wonderful time walking the trails, seeing the bluebonnets and admiring the other wildflowers. My husband and I are planning to go back next weekend when they have their annual plant sale and getting some new flowers for our garden.
In book news I started Arctic Chill by Arnaldur Indridasson for my mystery book group meeting next week. I have read all the books up to this one which I think is number five in the series. It’s good to visit with these characters.
I apologize for not visiting but will try to catch up soon. Hope you are all having a great start of the week!
Our lives are always so busy, I bet it is so soothing to just step back and appreciate nature. We’ve got a couple of botanical gardens here and we never go. Always running around like my hair is on fire. My son has been sick, and is getting an endoscopy and colonoscopy today, so we’ve been “dealing” with the preparation for all that. Not fun. But hopefully it will give us some answers.
I never realized that the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center was located in Austin. Every single time I see a patch of blue bonnets I mentally thank her for making our state so beautiful in the spring time. I love it!
Hope you continue to feel better! We’ve all been a little bit under the weather. I think most of it is allergy related–tis the season! And it seems like we’ve had a healthy amount of rain so far. Fingers crossed.
Hope you have a great week Iliana!!
Did you see the US postage stamps featuring Lady Bird Johnson and her conservation work? They were very cool. I really, really must read those Indridason mysteries–I always mean to pull out the first book, and from what I hear he is now finished with the series. Hope you are feeling better now!
Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well and missed the poetry festival. The wildflower center sounds wonderful though!
Glad you are feeling better, the Wildflower center sounds beautiful.
