Today in yoga class we did a lot of balancing poses, which are typically my favorites I must add. I love doing tree, eagle, and warrior. I haven’t updated you on how my 40-day challenge is going but basically I didn’t make it. I have been going 5-6 days a week this month but I couldn’t complete a 40 day cycle. It’s ok, I know I can try again at any other time. Life gets hectic and sometimes it’s just hard to find the time to do everything we need/want.
So with today’s practice in mind I know there are so many things I need to accomplish to get ready for the studio tour in November and other things, but I need to find some balance and simplicity. How? Well, for one there will be no more library books for the rest of the year (save for the one I have right now for book group). I love the library but my stacks are out of control, I am behind on reviews, etc. Just having those books out, with due dates looming and books not being read, is not a good thing for me right now. I don’t need more deadlines.
Then come the reading challenges. You guys know I love to join in and have fun but I can’t even focus on those right now. My reading has taken quite a hit as I’m trying to accomplish other things so when I do have free reading time I want to be able to read more at whim. So, thank you to all the wonderful hosts for creating these but I’m going to have to back out of them for now. I look forward to the ones in the New Year. I feel like I want to start with a clean slate.
Anyway, that’s a what’s going on with me. Now I’m ready for Halloween and candy! I am going to buy a very big bag of goodies and maybe I’ll share with the kids that come trick-or-treating. Hee,hee. I hope you all have a super weekend. I look forward to catching up on my blog reading this weekend.
It’s important to find that balance in life — otherwise, the blogging just feels like it gets in the way and it no longer becomes fun. I’ve recently learned that I can’t blog, read, and travel for business all in the span of three days. I think I need to go back to my yoga classes as well.
We’ll all be here when you return!!
I want to try yoga one day! I’ve a few coworkers attending yoga classes and the things they do always seem so interesting (and yes, so challenging, lol)!
I’m going to cut down on library trips as well as participating less in reading challenges next year. Though I know the challenges are just for fun, I simply want to read it at my own pace since I’m a moody reader. 😛
Hope you’ve a wonderful weekend and Happy Halloween!
I have a stack of library books that is sooo late. I’m usually so good, but the last two weeks have been so stressful. I’m so afraid to go in. I don’t want to librarians to be mad at me.
Aaagh. Stress.
I might end up letting go of some of my challenges as well. I haven’t even come near to finishing them and I’m not particularly concerned about it either 😛
I hope you have a lovely Halloween!
Life does get hectic! I can never make 40 days (and Kundalini always uses 40 day cycles), but the habit forms even if you miss one or two days. It makes a nice goal, but the effort counts, too. Doing a short practice at home counts, as well!
The challenges can become overwhelming, can’t they? I’m still playing the R.I.P. Challenge, but that is the only one I’m working on (and that is because it is such fun). I pick up titles from other challenges, but don’t feel required to participate.
Have a wonderful Halloween, Iliana!
Finding balance is important and having books and reading be part of the stress is no good. Those things are supposed to be fun! Have a fun and spooky Halloween!
4-5 days a week is still super dedicated! Good for you. I’m getting back into walking every day after work. It’s amazing how calm I feel after an hour of outdoor activity. Bring on the holidays! 🙂
Have a fun Halloween and thanks for the reminder. I need to buy candy tomorrow!!!!!
I need to do the same thing! (She says after coming home with a new pile of library books). I want to clear my night table off for the new year (ack–what a thing to think about already), but I keep starting new books and not finishing anything at all!
I like to sleep, so since I started grad school, blogging has fallen off. However, I try to read 20 pages / night on a novel. I tried NOT reading, and I felt unbalanced.
It’s good to set limits, unless you can alter physics, and make days last 36 hours and alter biology to let you just sleep for 3 hours.
I finally went to a bookstore and bought only 2 books, since I don’t have any time to read. The only things that I am borrowing from the library these days are books to help for my homework.
Keep up with the yoga! Yeah.
Question, is ArtFire just a local website or is it national?
Good luck with everything Iliana 🙂
Life does get hectic and it seems theres never enough hours in the day.
I don’t think I’ll be taking up any challenges next year myself.
Have a Happy Halloween!
Some days I wonder if balance truly exists. It always seems like in order to do one thing I must give up another. I wish I could do a little bit of both, but life isn’t always so kind.
Are you taking yoga at Sunstone? I was going there and really enjoyed it–might join in a few months. There’s something so refreshing/relaxing about just being with yourself for an hour. You know what I mean?
Balance is the thing that seems to elude me the most these days. It’s nice to know I am not alone in needing more of it in my life.
Your comments box seems to have disppeared for me on the last two posts so I just wanted to stop in and say hurray to the pretty books you’ve created. So love the dotty one. And I’m excited to see that you liked The Little Stranger too, it didn’t work for everyone, but I’m always interested to find more people who it does work for.
