While this was a challenging year and so my reading was quite impacted, the second half of the year I seemed to have found a good rhythm and also got a bit back on track with my reading and read some great books. I missed getting in a classic and reading a book in Spanish but overall I’m quite happy with the variety of genres.
Participating in reading events has really been something fun and where I’d like focus my energies but there are a couple of reading challenges I may take on for example, I’ve already decided I’m joining the Japanese Literature Reading Challenge (more on that in an upcoming post).
A new year is always filled with a lot of expectations and I hope to read lots of great books and share those with you. Again, thank you so much for bearing with me this year. I appreciate your friendship very much. I hope the holiday season has been very special for you and wishing you all the best in 2023. Happy New Year!
Smiles,
Iliana
Iliana, it’s nice to see what you’ve enjoyed in your reading. Happy New Year to you and your family! My reading has been impacted this year as well, but I seem to have regained my mojo! Yay! Take care and I’ll be around more often hopefully.
Circe is such a great story! I have The Song of Achilles on my shelf, but haven’t gotten to it yet.
I enjoy reading challenges, too. It’s nice to focus on the list of books I choose for those; helps keep me motivated! I’m not joining a specific challenge for it this year, but I’m hoping to read a lot from my “chunkster” stacks. I love to get deep in a long, meaty saga. My numbers will drop, but I’m ok with that.
Kay – Happy New Year! So glad to see that you are returning to blogging and can’t wait to hear how your volunteering at the library has been going and what you’ve been reading.
Lesley – It was so good wasn’t it? I reminded me of how much I enjoyed mythology when I was younger. I’m excited to see so many retellings out and have another one on my shelf that I can’t wait to get to. I love the idea of a saga but right now I am definitely finding it easier to focus on shorter books. But like you, I’m trying to focus on my stacks. Granted it would help if I didn’t keep adding to them! haha…
I am glad you enjoyed Circe too! This past year was a challenging one for me too. Thank goodness for books. I hope you have a great New Year!
