Actually, I have finished two books but just haven’t had a chance to do a little write up on them. I’ll post on those soon though because they really were very enjoyable reads. Don’t want to be in suspense? Well, it was A Fatal Grace and Playing with the Moon. I promise, more on those soon.
Still I’ve fallen very behind on my book group reads and my challenge reads. I haven’t even started The Armchair Traveler challenge! So this weekend I hope to get ahead in some books.
Here’s my reading stack for the weekend:
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (for one of my book groups)
- Sleepless Nights by Elizabeth Hardwick (for the Slaves of Golconda)
- The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard (for the Summer Mystery Reading challenge) – This one I have started and it’s very good.
Let’s hope I don’t get too distracted by other books. Have a happy weekend.

I’m reading The Book Thief right now, too. Even though I just started it last night, I have to say I think it’s going to be a great one. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.
Book Thief will fly! You won’t have any trouble with it.
I hear ya. I’ve had a slow start on Armchair Traveler Challenge as well….”Snow” has been really slow because I have to back-trek in order to understand what’s going on. I enjoyed Pamuk’s writing but I’ve made the quota his works at least for a while. 🙂
Book Thief sounds appealing, gotta check it out.
Have a nice weekend.
Book Thief is full of beautiful prose, you will love it.
I often fall behind in my book reviewing too. Have a great weekend!
Hi bookgirl, care to do a tag?
aka Nik – How’s the Book Thief going? It took me a bit to get into it but I’m up to page 40 now. Yay.
Isabel – I know you liked it – I actually recommended it to book group because of you 🙂
Matt – Snow is definitely a slow book. I couldn’t even finish it on time before it was due back at the library. Hope you are having a good one too!
Jodie – Glad to hear you liked it!
Dorothy W. – We just get so busy reading books 🙂
Josette – Thanks for the tag. I will get to it soon!
I sold two copies of The Book Thief to a couple of customers this past Friday. I was gushing on and on about it so much they probably were afraid to walk out without it! You are in for such a treat!
I’m back from my wonderful vacation in the Pacific Northwest. Know anyone who lives out there who wants to hire me or my hubby?!! 🙂 We’re ready to relocate!
Guess I was gone so long that I’ve become Anonymous! 🙂
I just hope you like The Book Thief as much as I did! It was my favorite book last year.
les in NE – It sounds like your vacation was awesome. I bet it is hard to go back to “real” life 🙂 I know I’ve loved seeing the pics you’ve been posting.
Andi – So far so good with the Book Thief 🙂
I am looking forward to hearing about Virgin of the Plains–I’ve heard varying things about it and can’t decide whether to get it to read or not. I feel really behind in everything too (reading the last two Harry Potter books, which I hadn’t planned on doing right away…and then did…has thrown me off). I can’t seem to make myself settle down to one book either, though I am still chugging away on Don Quixote. I wish I could get myself into a patter with some of my other books, too.
Danielle – I did like it a lot… Aside from one nitpick point at the end which I don’t want to mention because I don’t want to ruin it 🙂 I am so behind on DQ. Oh it’s sad.
