We missed out on today’s bike ride because it was raining but given that we’ve hardly seen any rain for months here I was quite happy to hear the thunder and rain. Of course my first thought was that I wanted to spend the whole day in bed (aren’t rainy days perfect for that?) and just read but lots of little things had to be taken care of.
One very good thing this weekend was our date night at the bookstore. We haven’t been going to the bookstore as regularly since vacation and even after as we’ve had family in town and so on but this is one routine I really couldn’t wait to get back to.
I caught up on my Bitch and Memories reading and found out I have to investigate further Kali for Women and The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt. I also picked up the latest edition of BookPage and can’t wait to see what books are a must read this season.
I also just realized that it’s almost time for the annual Texas Book Festival so I need to start planning which authors I must see.
Anyway, that’s a bit of the news from here. I’ve just started reading The Man From Beijing by Henning Mankell and so far it’s quite good. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
You are right. There is something about a rainy day that makes me want to just stay home and read too! Sounds like you had a nice weekend!
Wasn’t the rain wonderful?? I went out on our back porch and just inhaled the smells. LOL
There are some really good authors coming for the Festival. I’m not going to be able to attend, but I hope you get to go and see some of them.
My husband just started reading Mankell’s “Depths” and is really liking it so far. Glad you had a nice weekend!
I need to start having a date night at the bookstore!
The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt is absolutely AMAZING. I met the author at SIBA11 and got the book. This type of story-telling is so creative and compelling. YOu must go get it now!
So sad the festival is during readathon weekend. I’ll be busy with that so no trip to Austin for me.
Wasn’t the rain GLORIOUS!? I’m usually not a fan but it’s been so so dry and I fear our foundation has actually cracked. :-/
Hope you have a great week!
Hey, I sent you an ARC of the scrapbook (b&w) and a color pamphlet that I picked up at the American Library Association convention. This was before your vacation, so I understand if you forgot about them.
I am looking forward to reading my ARC in December, when school lets out. The real copy should be out by then.
