Happy Easter friends. I hope you are having a lovely weekend. It’s been a rainy and cloudy one here but I kind of liked that. I actually had a long weekend because I took a vacation day on Friday so I’ve been able to relax a bit more and yesterday it was so nice to lounge around reading and drinking coffee.
We also made carrot oat muffins and they turned out quite good. And, as they are made with carrots and oats that means they are healthy right? Haha…
Oh and the big news is that yesterday I was looking through the Austin Public Library’s website for an ebook I wanted to check out for my book group (which I haven’t been to in a year but more about that in another post), and turns out my library card expired! I had to pay a very tiny fine I had and hopefully I’ll be able to renew my card in a few days.
I really miss going to the library but honestly I’m probably not going to go anytime soon. I would still like to have access to ebooks and audiobooks though. Not that I’ve been using these services in a while either but I want to make sure to have them available. Bookworm problems, right?  I guess the only good thing about about being on a library break is that I’ve been focusing on my stacks.
And, now I’ll leave you with a lovely poem for the day:
“Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; see us here
All simply in the springing of the year.”
A Prayer in Spring by Robert Frost. Read it all here.
Enjoy your weekend and more book talk soon!
Iliana, Happy Easter!
Too bad you couldn’t renew your card online during COVID? Our library is making progress and opening again with very minor restrictions. I kinda got used to curbside and everything online.
Hope you have a good week.
Diane – I hope you’ve had a lovely Easter! I think they are renewing cards but it takes a while if you have a fine. I think our library has been expanding hours and such too but I guess I’ll stick to my own stacks for a while longer 🙂
I haven’t been inside a library in over a year, but I have used the curbside checkout for a few books for my husband. The plus side of not going, is that I’ve really been focusing on my own shelves and I actually see gaps between books. I can’t remember the last time there was space to add more books. I’m glad you were able to have a long weekend. It’s always good to have some down time. Happy Easter!
I was able to renew my card over the phone during covid. I certainly hope you will be able to get yours renewed. Curbside book delivery has saved me during the pandemic.
Happy Easter!
Muffins with carrots and oats…yep…definitely healthy. (They sound really yummy, too.) 😀 Sad about your library card. I don’t know what I’d do without mine. Hope you have a good week.
Carrot oat muffins sound both healthy and yummy to me!
Bummer about the expired library card and hopefully the renewed card will be ready soon!
We had a wonderful Easter with the first time in a year for a real visit with our daughter and her family. It was so nice, since we’ve all had vaccines to actually sit and visit almost like in the “before time.” Your muffins sound delicious, Iliana!
Too bad the library doesn’t offer renewal when you check out books for the first time after they expire? I have never kept track of when my card expires and it is frustrating to track one more date. I much prefer it if they didn’t let you check out books until you renewed the card.
Carrot oat muffins sound delicious! And you are totally right that they are healthy 🙂
Carrot oat muffins sound so good! It sounds like you had a nice Easter weekend. Mouse had dance classes via Zoom on Saturday, but no rehearsal, which was nice. We’re back to all day dance Saturdays again, which I didn’t miss when she wasn’t involved in a show. And because of my work schedule, she’s limited as to when she can take her dance classes. It makes Sunday my favorite day because we generally don’t have anything scheduled then.
I don’t know if our library cards expire . . . I imagine they might need updating if not used after awhile at least.
