What books are you starting the month off with? I still have several books in progress that I started last month.

First I wanted to read an Irish author for Ireland Reading Month and I chose The Green Road by Anne Enright. This is the story of Rosaleen, matriarch of the Madigans, and her family on the cusp of either coming together or falling irreparably apart. Over the years the children grow up and leave Ireland but now they are coming together for a last Christmas. I am about half way through this one and it’s really good.

I have a thriller on audio, When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole. This is a story about a neighborhood going through gentrification but there are some strange things that Sydney notices. I am finding this one fantastic and different from some of the typical thrillers I’ve read lately.

For something quite different, I’ve started Piñata by Leopoldo Gout. Carmen Sanchez returns to Mexico with her daughters in tow. She’s there to oversee the renovation of a church into a hotel. One of her daughters is a typical teen who would rather be back home with her friends and going to theater camp and the younger one is eager to experience Mexico. Slowly though strange forces are making themselves known to the younger daughter. Kind of creepy but I’m really enjoying this.

For National Poetry Month, I’ve decided to read Goldenrod by Maggie Smith. She’s a new to me poet so and I believe I first came across her book via the NPR book concierge. I’m only a couple of poems in to the collection but I’m enjoying them.

Believe it or not, I’ve hardly made any progress in The Lost Children Archive by Valeria Luiselli but I’m too invested to put this one away. So I’ll continue with it along with A Happy Poem to End Every Day.

I admit I’d love to start a new book but I’m going to resist at least until I can make more progress in all of my books. What about you, what are you reading this month?
