I’m so excited we finally have a three day weekend to look forward to. We don’t have big plans other than hopefully getting up early one of those days and going for a trail walk. Anyway, I wanted to mention the books that I’m currently reading but first, thank you again for stopping by for my Q&A blog post with author Cheryl Honigford author of The Darkness Knows. The winner of the giveaway is Kristie D!
Now on to what I’m reading:
Perfect Days by Raphael Montes. A medical student feels more at home spending time with the corpse at the university lab until one day he finds himself becoming fascinated by a young woman he meets at a party. Now he wants to spend all of his time with her even if it’s against her will. Oh my goodness, this book is so good but I cannot read this at night. There have been some passages that have seriously given me the creeps. I wonder how this will end.
A Killing Spring by Gail Bowen. Professor Joanne Kilbourn is dealing with the shocking news that the Head of the Journalism department was found dead in a seedy rooming house. Not only that but Joanne is also dealing with some personal issues with her boyfriend and colleagues and on top of that she can’t get a hold of one of her students. There is quite a lot to keep up with in this mystery and I’m only bummed out that I’ve started in the middle of the series. So far I’m really enjoying this one.
My Name Is Leon by Kit de Waal. Young Leon and his baby brother are placed in a foster home when his mother can’t cope with taking care of them any longer. Unfortunately little Jake is adopted and Leon is struggling to understand why they have been separated. I just want to give Leon a hug. What a sweet boy and what sad circumstances.
After You by Jojo Moyes. I know I still keep raving about Me Before You so I wasn’t sure how I felt about a sequel. This takes up now that Louisa has had some time to deal with the aftermath of losing Will. What has she done with her life and is she experiencing it just like Will wanted her to? Well, not exactly but there is hope for Lou as new people enter her life. Still not sold that a sequel was needed but I enjoy Moyes writing style so I will continue with it.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and let me know if you have any big plans!
I still have not started My Name Is Leon yet, but I have been really caught up in a series by Ann Swinfen, The Chronicles of Christoval Alvarez. One a day for the last six days! Like you, I’m not sure a sequel was needed to Me Before You, which I loved, but I do want Louisa to have a good life after Will. 🙂
I am hoping to read period in September. I just did my August in Review post and it was pretty quiet!
We don’t have big plans by anyone else’s standards, but we are taking an extra-long day at the farmers’ market on Saturday to listen to more music and taste more goodies than we usually do, in a rush to gather groceries and goodies. Then, time with friends and family, some board-games and some good food. But it’ll be nice to have three days for sure. Enjoy your time! (And your books, of course!)
I hope you have been enjoying your trail walks, Iliana. They sound nice. Maybe I can talk everyone in going for a walk later. I can see why Perfect Days might not be a good bedtime reading book. A Killing Spring sounds really good. I’m reading Catherine McKenzie’s Fractured at the moment. It didn’t get off to a very quick start, but I’m hopeful it will be good.
Got to love a 3 day weekend 🙂 I’m a Jojo Moyes fan and I need to read Me Before You. Happy Monday 🙂
Hope you’ve a wonderful long weekend, Iliana. I loved Me Before You and I’ve to admit I was nervous reading the sequel. After You was a great read but not as good and memorable as MBY but still, it was an enjoyable read. It was good to know what Louisa is doing after MBY.
I’m hopeful that After You lives up to my expectations. I know it won’t be as good as After You, but I hope it’s still a good read.
