Not a lot has changed from my post a couple of weeks ago updating my current reads but I thought I’d check in anyway with progress and the new books that I’ve added to my stack.
One book I added is Tricks by Ed McBain. This is the 40th entry in his long running 87th Precinct series. I think I may have read another at some point. All action takes place during one evening, Halloween night, and the police officers in the 87th Precinct are getting called out to solve a missing persons case, liquor store robberies and several other incidents. Lots of action going on here and lots of characters to keep track of that it is almost like watching a police procedural on t.v. This is a read for my mystery book group so I need to finish this one soon.
The Opposite House by Helen Oyeyemi is a book I picked up for the More Diverse Reading project. Unfortunately I didn’t finish this one in time but I still plan on continuing with this novel. It is not the most easiest to read as there is a very dreamlike quality to this story but I am enjoying it.
My other books are still No One Gets Out Alive by Adam Nevill. This has been creepy and violent. Hope to finish it soon. I’m also still making progress in The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald and I’m still holding on to Vanishing Girls by  Lauren Oliver, because I’m very close to the end and determined to finish that book.
I’m actually not sure how much reading I’ll get done this weekend though because it’s the Texas Book Festival! I can’t wait. Also, don’t forget that Dewey’s Read-A-Thon is happening this weekend. Talk about a bookish weekend. Whatever you are up to, I hope you all have a great weekend!
Have fun at the festival. I hope that you see all the authors that you want to see.
I do need to read Helen Oyeyemi at some point. She does come highly recommended. Hope you have fun at the book festival. I wish I could do the readathon, but I will most likely have to work.
I know you will enjoy the book festival! I have never participated in the Read-a-thon, but enjoy the posts.
I’ve heard good things about Oyeyemi but I have not read her so I look forward to your thoughts on the book. I totally forgot about the readathon and made other plans! Those plans include a long bike ride in the cold and then afterwards hot coffee and a book. Have fun at the book festival!
Isabel – While I wish you had been here good thing you didn’t make the drive. You would have been bummed out that we didn’t get to see Atwood!
Athira – I probably should have done the read-a-thon instead of the book fest but oh well 🙂
Jenclair – I’ve only done the read-a-thon once or twice and it was a lot of fun but I don’t think I can do it again. It was kind of exhausting 🙂
Stefanie – Ooh your bike plans sound great. Hope you got in that ride. I need to catch up on your blog to see if you did 🙂
I need to read Oyeyemi books as I’ve heard a lot of great things about them! I think I may have one of hers on my shelf. Will have to read it at some point.
