I seem to be blogging so sporadically lately but what with the move, vacation and having to deal with connectivity issues this week it’s just taking me a while to get back into the blogging rhythm. Hopefully things are finally back on track.
So, enough whining and let’s get back to book talk. In the past few weeks I’ve read 13 books – which I need to tell you about one of these days. There are some good ones there, but for now let me tell you about the books that have been holding my interest this week.
First, I’m getting very close to the end of The Ten-Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer. This one has been a bit uneven for me. There are paragraphs with some wonderful insight but then there are some parts that just don’t seem to fit. Still it has been an interesting read so far.
My other book was one I left behind when I went on vacation. Sometimes when I leave a book sitting aside for too long I lose interest but not so with Trick of the Eye by Jane Stanton Hitchcock. I’m still very keen to see how the story plays out.
And, today I started In the Woods by Tana French. It has a wonderful prologue describing an idyllic summer setting which slowly turns into something much more intense and scary. I can’t wait to see what awaits.
So, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I can’t wait to finally blog visit properly and catch up with you and hopefully I’ll join in on the Sunday Salon this weekend – it’s been too long.
How do you keep it straight reading more than book at once?? I can only do one at a time.
I encounter the same problem with my current read, Out Stealing Horses. Maybe because of my medicine head! I’ve had a fit of coughing and this syrup makes me very drowsy.
Good to hear you’re getting back on track. 😉
Well I can’t say I’m entirely sorry to hear that The Ten Year Nap is a bit uneven. I still haven’t forgiven Meg W. for some of the snarky things she had to say about chick lit a few years back. What can I say? I tend to hold a readerly grudge sometimes. lol
Nicole – I used to only read one book at a time but I started trying book juggling and it worked. As long as I don’t have too many books going on at once it’s usually ok. And, I try to keep stick with books that I know are completely different just so I won’t get confused 🙂
Matt – Oh no, medicine and books don’t mix 🙂 Anytime I have to take my allergy medicine my reading gets cloudy!
Andi – Ha,ha… I like “readerly grudges”. You know, I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.
I recently got a copy of Into the Woods and am looking forward to reading it. I am glad to hear you are enjoying it so far. I’ll be curious to read your final thoughts on The Ten-Year Nap as that’s another one I would like to get to.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
I can’t wait to hear what you’ll think of In the Woods for I’ve this book in my pile! Hope you’ve a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Literary Feline – I hope you’ve been having a great weekend. Have you started Into the Woods yet? It’s so good! I hope it continues that way – I’m only about a quarter into the book but it’s great.
Melody – I had heard so much about that book because of the Edgar nomination. So far I can see why. The beginning was really well done. Hope you had a great weekend!
I haven’t been anywhere lately or done anything exciting (like moving) but I am 6 books behind on my blogging.
At least you have good excuses.
I read the Stanton ages ago–so long ago that I can’t even remember details. And I know what you mean by letting a book sit too long! The French book sounds good, though!
Isabel – It’s the heat! 🙂
Danielle – The French books is wonderful. I just found out that she has a sequel coming out/or is out. I can’t even imagine how this will end – I’m so curious!
