Saturday I had a great day filled with books and crafts as I met up with my crafty group at big Half Price Bookstore in Dallas. Honestly, could anything be better than that?
We began by making a couple of valentine’s day cards and then spent some time oohing and aahing over the creations some of the members brought to show off. I’m always amazed and energized by the creativity these ladies have. Next month we are going to work on shrines. I can’t wait.
After the crafting, I spent a bit of time at the bookstore perusing the Clearance books. I found these for $1 each. The Mammy by Brendan O’Carroll, Hotel World by Ali Smith and Troll by Johanna Sinisalo.
I spent a good portion of the weekend crafting and just wish I had gotten more reading done. Why is there never enough time. I’m still enjoying all of the books I mentioned in my previous post and I did add a mystery to the mix. I’ll tell you about that one tomorrow.
I think I’m going to craft tonight. Make a Valentine for my sweetie.
I was able to find The Yacoubian Building at half price but I went at lunch on Friday. Sounds like you had a great time on Saturday! I am a big fan of short stories and especially Hotel World. She has a very interesting writing style. I need to get back to The Accidental.
Being creative is so much better than being sick in bed. I would love to see pictures of your cards.
I am glad you are finding time to tap on your other creative side, besides blogging and reading great books.
You will have time to do everything when you retire!!
Nik – I still need to make a card for my sweetie too.
Christine – So glad you found the book. I tried looking for a couple of the other books but no luck. How are you liking The Accidental?
Nancy – Being sick is no fun. Hope you are feeling better. I’ll try to post a picture of one of the cards.
Isabel – I want to have time now! I need to tell my husband I want to be a woman of leisure 🙂
I wish I had people here I could hang with and do crafty things. I haven’t done any paper arts in ages and I don’t stitch as much as I used to. At least I can read to fill that void. I haven’t even bought any new (or used) books lately. I feel a trip to the bookstore might be necessary this week…
Between you and me The Mammy is rubbish. 😉
I don’t have enough time to read at the moment – could I pinch some of your reading time?
Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I wish that I had a group like yours in my town.
You’re right – there is NEVER enough time for reading. Sigh….
BTW – I know that I am super late, but I wanted to add that I love your new site. It’s fantastic!
Danielle – I think you definitely deserve a trip to the used bookstore 🙂 I’m pretty fortunate to have found a little crafty group I like. Even in such a big place as Dallas it’s hard to find a group.
Kimbofo – Oh well, thank goodness it was just a dollar then 🙂
Max – Ha,ha. If I had extra time I’d share of course but I gotta find it first.
Amelia – It’s so good to see you and thank you. I know you’ve said you’ve been super busy. Hope you find some time for fun reading.
