I hope you all had a great weekend. I’m continuing my baby steps to do a bit more outside of my home bubble and this weekend I thought, it’s been forever since I’ve been to a craft store so I went to browse around Michael’s. While I didn’t really have anything in mind I’m always on the look for stuff that I can use either to make journals with and/or to use in my art journaling.
It was great to be able to see things in person but it was a bit sad to see some of my favorite areas in the craft store almost non-existent. I feel like this is a common theme now when I go to stores. Same thing happened at the bookstore when I was disappointed with the available magazines. So I didn’t buy anything but luckily there are plenty of places online to get supplies.
Other than that I worked some in my TN Journal. I’ve mentioned before that I have several journals I keep and this one is a bit more of a scrapbook type journal. I do a lot of writing but also use stickers, stamping, magazine cut-outs, pictures, anything that I think will be interesting to hang on to. Sometimes the things I use go with the writing and sometimes not so much.
This particular spread that I’ve shown is where I’ll talk about places I’ve been exploring this summer, because that’s exactly what it feels like to go out and about again. I see new buildings going out, changes in different neighborhoods, new stores and restaurants and I want to capture a bit of those changes. The little tags you see on the blank page, those I basically just used a rubber stamp which is of a frame and used it on printed papers. Now I can use those little tags to add some journaling spots.
So that’s a bit about my weekend and now to catch up on some reading because I may just finish a book tonight.
I want to get back to my drawing and journaling. Thanks for inspiring me.
Have I mentioned before that I adore your arty links? I think I have, but I’ll say it again. 🙂 I love this spread. I am not very good with art myself but I love looking at bullet journal/ journaling ideas on Pinterest too — I’d add yours there!
Glad to hear you had a such a good weekend and are starting to get out and about more! So interesting to hear that Michaels has empty shelves. I’ve only been going to grocery stores and bike shops and the bike shops are definitely empty. Love the journal pages you shared!
Love your journal spread, Iliana! A good idea to note the changes that have occurred since last year and the attendant lockdown. In fact, i wish I’d made a point to do that years ago, to note the changes in urban landscapes as favorite places and buildings disappeared and new ones made me re-evaluate my visual navigation system.
So much has changed in the past one year, hasn’t it? It’s sad in some ways, it feels like I just blinked and things are suddenly different. Some of the new stuff is exciting too. So glad to see more contactless opportunities overall. Glad you got to step out a bit and your journals always look so cool!
My own neighborhood is changing a lot. I don’t know what it will look like in a year. Interesting times.
