This week I’ve received two of my favorite artsy/craftsy publications, Bound & Lettered and Artitudezine. As I’ve been out in the evenings this week with book groups I haven’t had a chance to really look at these but I finally found some time to glance through them.
Bound & Lettered has some good articles from an introduction to colored pencils to how to make a love note bookmark. I may have to try that project asap. There is also a very detailed article on two needle coptic binding. I barely remember how to do one needle coptic binding so I don’t see myself trying this one anytime soon. And, I saw a mention of the upcoming book arts conference in Oregon. You do not know how much I want to go to that!
Artitudezine’s Winter issue also has some informative articles but the one item that caught my attention first was that Suzanne Simanaitis, the creative muse behind the zine, has a book out! Kaleidoscope is a book designed to spark your creativity. Enough said, I’ve already ordered it.
Is it the weekend yet? I want to craft.
Did you submit anything work for the Artitude contests? If yes, where is it?
What is the latest challenge? The website has the challenge that was due in Jan.
No crafting for me this weekend. I am going to some weekend parades, prelude to the big Mardi Gras day on the 20th. I am looking foward to eating cotton candy.
Isabel – I haven’t submitted anything in a while. I noticed that their website isn’t updated with the new Zine info. I’ll send you an email later with the upcoming challenges. Have fun at the parades! 🙂
I really liked the links on here. That conference sounds wonderful and I love that book!
The reviews of Kaleidoscope are encouraging, and what a lovely cover . I wasn’t familiar with Bound and Lettered, but am checking out the link. Thanks!
Christine – I promise to let you know about the book. I can’t wait to get it. Should be this weekend 🙂
Jenclair – The cover is great isn’t it? If you are into bookbinding and/or calligraphy then Bound & Lettered is a must. I’m not a calligrapher but my husband is so we both get to use the magazine. I have noticed that the projects are a bit more advanced than in other publications.
