We are back online at Casa Bookgirl although now I need to take in my MacBook to get a fan looked at. Is Mercury retrograde or something? Ah, well, it’s just nice to be back so I look forward to catching up with everyone soon.
I didn’t get as much reading done after all because I’ve been spending time perusing books with titles like Best Resumes Ever. Writing a resume is really not a lot of fun. And where exactly does the blog mention go? (just kidding).
Anyway, I am this close to finishing Great Expectations. It’s been well, a great read. I’ve enjoyed it a lot save for a lull there in the middle of the book but made it through that and I should finish it tonight. Oh and actually over the weekend I did finish An Incomplete Revenge by Jacqueline Winspear. Another wonderful entry in the Maisie Dobbs series. I promise more details on that coming up.
Hope everyone has been reading a lot of great stuff. I want to hear all about it.
Glad to have you back online! I just hate it when my computer conks out. I’m also forced to face up to the fact that blogging is an obsession, rather than a nice way to pass the time occasionally. Good luck with the resume, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Maisie Dobbs!
Glad you got your connection problem sorted. I hate writing resumes, good luck with yours. I’m not terribly far into it yet but I’m quite enjoying A Tale of Two Cities. It would be nice to have a chunk of time where I could really get into it. So what’s up next for you book-wise?
Welcome back! I’m still in the very, very beginning of GE. I really need to get on that. The month is coming to an end very soon.
I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
Glad you’re back and so glad you’re enjoying ‘Great Expectations’. I re-read it periodically and love it so much more every time.
Glad to have you back! I hate it if my computer decided to boycott me too! Good luck with the resume, I haven’t update mine for a long, long time… 😛
Who would have imagined the stress of online difficulties a few years ago? Can’t wait for the new Maisie Dobbs!
My computer is on its last legs and I have problems with connecting to the internet, but I can’t really afford a new on right now. I am hoping it can hang on a bit longer! I really have to read GE. Isn’t it nice completing a big book like that? I really liked David Coperfield last year. Glad to hear you liked Maisie.
litlove – thanks! And, yes, when you can’t get to your computer and are forced to do something else you realize just how dependent you are to it right. crazy.
Tanabata – My resume is up-to-date but I think it looks blah. So I’m checking to see what’s new in resume writing. I definitely would read another Dickens book after this one but I’d probably save it for later. After this chunky book I need something a bit lighter!
aka Nik – Good luck and have fun reading it. I do recommend setting aside time to get a good chunk of it read. I think it helps.
Ann Darnton – Thanks and really you read it periodically? That’s really neat. I bet you do get a lot more out of the story every time. I know I feel like I “missed” some stuff through the middle but it has still been a wonderful read.
Melody – Not right when computers do that to us right?! 🙂
jenclair – I know, to think that I get upset when our internet slows down even. I think you’ll love the new Maisie Dobbs!
Danielle – Oh no – I hope your computer makes it through for a while longer. I get the feeling you’d enjoy GE a lot! I don’t know which Dickens I’d read next but I definitely would read another one.
I might go into withdrawl if I didn’t have my computer connection!
Glad you’re back! I love Dickens — ever read Bleak House? It’s fab.
Welcome back! I think I perused the same resume book, although maybe my version was called 10 Best Resumes…but the titles all sound the same huh? Yes, writing a resume is NOT fun unless you’re super accomplished and there really should be a section specifically for blog work!
Great Expectations! Ah, the memories. I read that in 8th grade and found it difficult, but I was dying to see the Ethan Hawke/Gwenyth Paltrow movie coming out that summer. In fact, I think I read it after I saw the trailer. It must be less confusing as an adult read.
Stephanie – I think I almost did! Had to have a lot of chocolate to make up for that 🙂
LK – I’m putting Bleak House on the never-ending list. This is only my second Dickens book after A Christmas Carol of course. I love that one too.
T.Y. – Ha,ha… Aren’t those awful but yet you have to do something right.
I’ll fess up and say that most of my knowledge of GE before I read the book came from that movie! I had to get the soundtrack as I loved it. Hmm, I wonder where it is now – might be fun to hear it again 🙂
Whee! Congrats on being so close to finishing GE! I thought I’d be done by now, but my reading time has been thin lately. Arrg! Maybe I can get some good reading time in this afternoon since I get off at 1:00 today.
Andi – I promise to have a post on GE soon… maybe tonight if I get motivated 🙂
