I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I’ve been busy clearing my nightstand. I had a lot of books in progress and I just felt like I had gotten stuck with some books. They weren’t bad but I wasn’t that motivated to finish them.
So I’ve cleared off the books that were lingering and have moved on. Of course I was a bit bummed out that I had to put off The School of Essential Ingredients and The Wednesday Sisters as I’ve heard so many good things about these two books but somehow they just weren’t meeting my expectations. The first one reminded me too much of another book and the Sisters book had me going crazy trying to distinguish the characters, not a good thing. Would I pick these book up another time? Maybe.
I’ve decided to try reading one book at a time again as typically when life gets a bit hectic that seems to work best for me. And, to prove it I finished two books this weekend! I read a good psychological thriller, Deceptions by Rebecca Frayn and a cute romantic comedy, Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I’ll tell you more about these soon.
In the meantime, I’m charging up my Kindle so I can take advantage of Sourcebooks eBook Specials. I so want to read The Winter Sea. I have to tell you that my Kindle has pretty much been collecting dust. I got it back in the Spring and have only read one book on it and a short story. It’s neat but I think that what stops me from using it is the fact that I have hundreds of unread books. But I’m hoping to get my money’s worth out of my Kindle when we go on vacation soon.
Alright, have a wonderful week ahead everyone and more book talk soon. I can’t wait to visit your blogs and see what you’ve been reading.
Glad you found a few books that would fit into your hectic schedule and make you happy reading them. I’m sure when you travel you will get plenty of use out of your Kindle. That is always when I used mine and now that I have a Nook, I’m sure it will be the same.
I’m sorry you’ve to put off those two books, Iliana. Some books work for others but not us, and vice versa; and that’s what makes reading so subjective and interesting. π
Hope you enjoy all your reads on Kindle! π
I’m reading The Winter Sea right now. Good so far!
I hope you do get to read The Winter Sea – it is such a fabulous book! It quickly became one of my favourite books!
Sorry your two books were not fitting into what you felt like reading. That happens to me quite often but I do return many times to find I really enjoyed that same book at a different time.
I do hope you read Winter Sea and perfect for the kindle and traveling.
I just finished Rebecca which I enjoyed (lots of twisty plots) and now need to pick a new book. I just received three ARCs from
Sourcebooks so I think I will pick one to begin: Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley, His Last Duchess by Gabrielle Kimm, or Mr. DarcyΓ’β¬β’s Undoing by Abigail Reynolds. π
Can’t wait to read your review on Attachments. I’ve been wanting to read it so bad.
I have Winter Sea on my kindle, as well. Hoping to get to read it this year. So many books, so little time.
Too many unread books on my shelves is what keeps me from my kindle too. π
There aren’t enough hours in the day Iliana. I did enjoy The Wednesday Sisters myself. I’ll be reading Attachements soon also.
I didn’t know Sourcebooks was having a sale! I think we all have those moments where we need to put our nightstand stack back on the shelves for a later time. Happy reading.
I loved The Winter Sea. Hope you do, too!
My eReader goes through seasons… I used it a lot when I first got it and then it sort of died out for a bit there… Now I am actually using it to read chunksters that I own, but don’t want to lug around with me. So, even though I read about half the book electronically, it still means a book cleared off my TBR pile… Plus, I am using the library and getting my moneys worth for my Reader. It is a winning situation all around.
Too many unread books is why I don’t want a Nook or Kindle. Maybe someday.
Personally, I’d skip the Wednesday Sisters but go back to The School of Essential Ingredients. Just my two cents. π
