Did you all survive daylight savings time? I’m suffering from spring fever and wanting to just spend days on fun adventures. Unfortunately that’s not the case but I did take a couple of days off last week so I had a long weekend and I caught up a bit on my reading as well as had some time for naps.
I also wanted to go to one of our indie bookshops and had in mind to visit Bookwoman but as it’s SXSW, I do not want to cross through downtown Austin. Luckily I have a great little indie bookshop in my side of town, Reverie Books.
I had a great time browsing through the different shelves. Although it’s a small shop there is a little bit for everyone. I was tempted by several books in the fiction section but I ended up getting A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. Not only do I keep hearing about this but after speaking with the bookseller, I was sold on it.
After I got my book I walked over next door to Quack’s Bakery for a latte and coffee cake (so delicious) to enjoy while I caught up on some journaling and reading a back issue of Art Journaling magazine. I subscribe to this magazine and love it but I’m so behind on the issues. As a matter of fact the latest issue arrived in my mailbox today and I’m behind by at least four issues.
I love hanging out at a coffee shop with my journal and books. How about you, are you able to read while in a coffee shop or too noisy for you?
Anyway, I hope you are having a good week and reading lots of good things!
I’m glad to hear a bit from you. I plan to stop into a bookstore or maybe the library today while I’m in Galveston.
I hate Daylight Savings Time! That loss of an hour of sleep…it kills me all week. And all the kids I work with are yawning, too.
Yeah I used to like hanging out in coffee shops too … but then I moved to the boondocks. Ha. I’m actually not a coffee person. Hmm. Enjoy your week.
I love a good coffee shop (and coffee cake sounds wonderful right now), but I can’t read in one due to the noise. I have a hard time concentrating on books even with music playing. Your outing sounds like fun, though. As far as daylight savings time, I’m still feel it a bit. I’ll probably be fully adjusted to it in another day or two.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz – Oh I hope you have fun! And, hopefully Galveston isn’t too crowded with all the spring breakers!
Lark – I’m with you! I do enjoy the longer days but it’s always so hard to adjust. Hopefully you have some extra time to relax this weekend and catch up on some sleep!
Susan – Haha… I remember when I used to not be a coffee person either but I’ve fallen deep for it. Of course I do enjoy some tea too!
Lesley – Aren’t coffee shops the best? I love finding a good one with a great selection of treats. I typically can block out the noise but what I do need is good light. The one I was at was a bit too dark. Hope you are feeling back to normal now after DTS! 🙂
Although we don’t have DST, it always confuse me whenever I’m online group chatting with my foreign friends during this time. I do love reading in a coffee shop but not for long as I get distracted easily, ha.
