So I’ve mentioned that lately I feel like I’ve been reading the same books and making very little progress, and then I thought why not add some graphic novels to the mix. Certainly I’ll be able to finish a book or two sooner rather than later right? Well that wasn’t the only reason for adding some graphic novels to my list. I realized that I haven’t read any this year and I wanted to see if I could remedy that.
The first book is Relish: My Life in the Kitchen by Lucy Knisley. I loved her book French Milk and I’ve read good reviews of this one from some of you so I thought this would be a good choice.
The other graphic novel I had on hold is Julio’s Day by Gilbert Hernandez. This is the story of one man’s life from his birth in 1900 to his death in 2000. I have high expectations of this one.
And, before I left the library I took a quick peek at the new books shelf and In Times of Fading Light by Eugen Ruge caught my eye. How perfect that it’s another German book to add to my German Literature month reads. This is a generational saga from an East German perspective on half a century of history. I started this one last night.
So how about you? What have you checked out from the library?
GNs always get me out of reading funks. I’ve been waiting for my library to get the new Lucy Knisley book…I like her!
Good luck with the German one.
I found a Stalin biography at work and will check it out. I’ve been wanting to read it for years now. I want to find out what events in his youth shaped him to be such an evil person.
I flail with joy a bit every time I see Relish! I absolutely adored it, and I hope you do, too!
I haven’t read any graphic novels but these look good. Lately, I’ve been on an audio book kick from the local library. Its so easy because I just borrow the audio books online. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sandy – That is true! It’s always kind of nice to mix in GNs with the “regular” books isn’t it. Hope your library gets her book!
Isabel – Girl, you are reading some heavy duty books! I do need luck with the German books I’m reading – two of them in particular are definitely not light reading.
Andi @ Estella’s Revenge – I remember your review! I am looking forward to it.
Bookworm – I need to borrow some audio books from the library – you’ve given me a good reason to go back 🙂 Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
