I’m kind of dragging a bit today. I ran a lot of errands with my mom and barely made it to the library to pick up some videos for her and my books. So, a very short post tonight. I’ll just leave you with a picture of my books. Tell me if you read one of these and if I should move it to the top of the pile.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m going to grab some German chocolate (I can’t believe I still have some left from our trip) and climb in bed with a good book.

Those books look great! Ooh, you’ve Eating Animals in that pile! I’ve that book too, perhaps we can read it together! 😛 And I’m glad you got On Folly Beach as well. I really enjoyed reading that one!
Melody – I saw a copy of that book at the bookstore and thought it looked so interesting. Of course I’m a bit scared at what I’ll find out through the pages. I don’t eat a lot of meat but I do love chicken so that may be a problem. I remember you loved On Folly Beach so I had to grab that when I saw it 🙂
Wow, I really have not heard of any of these! Wait, I think I have heard about The Wife’s tale. That is all, not read any of it! Hope you enjoy them all.
I haven’t read any of them but I hear that Eating Animals is very good… I’m too scared to read it too, I’ll just let you go first then! 🙂
I listened to Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand and I loooooved it. The Major is such a great character.
I haven’t read any of those, but my mom and a good friend both LOVED Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. I bought it for my mom after reading Heather’s great review!
I have never read any of them. There are definitely a few on there though that I want to read!
I haven’t read any of these yet, but I really want to try Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand.
Hope you had a good night!
The Lori Lansen book is so good! Enjoy them all.
I’ve read A Small Room and remember copying several passages down. I’m fonder of Lori Lansens’ The Girls but I like the fact that all her books are rooted in the same community and the characters in The Wife’s Tale are memorable. The Foer and Major Pettigrew are on my TBR list too. Hope you find some keepers in here!
I have Eating Animals on hold at the library and I am patiently awaiting my turn.
I am sitting there ogling those last three books. Lori Lansen – loved The Girls! Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand – wanted that for an age. Karen White – desperate to read her.
I cannot wait to start “Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand” myself. And I loved Eating Animals, but then I like anything by Foer 😉
Veens – The Wife’s Tale is the one I’m sort of leaning towards because I’ve read another book by that author and it was awesome!
Joanna – You are too funny. I keep thinking I’ll never eat chicken after I read that. I’ll let you know what happens 🙂
Heather – I remember your review and actually I’m pretty sure that’s how the book ended up on my radar!
Les in NE – Yep, that Heather led us to that book 🙂 If I have to return that book unread because I ran out of time I’m sure I’ll have to buy it.
Stephanie – They all so good don’t they?
Andi – I think I may have overindulged in chocolate but it was a good night. Didn’t start any of my books but still loving Fahrenheit 451!
BibliophilebytheSea – Oh I’m glad to hear you liked it! I can’t wait to get to it.
BuriedinPrint – I read Sarton’s Journal of a Solitude and think I ran out of book darts because I wanted to highlight so many things! I am looking forward to this one. And, I loved The Girls. It was one of my favorite book of the year a couple of years ago. This one doesn’t bring back any of the same characters though right?
Stefanie – Oh yay, we’ll have to share notes. I hope I can read it soon.
vivienne – Wasn’t the Girls wonderful? I cried at the end of that book. I know what you mean about wanting to read Karen white. Everyone’s loving her books. I need to be in the loop 🙂
Iris – I’ve not read anything by Foer so I’m very excited about this one. Actually I read about two or three pages of the beginning and can already tell I’ll be in for an interesting read!
So glad to see May Sarton there. I have my copy ready to go, too. And I want to read Major Pettigrew at some point as well…Yum–German chocolate is the best!
I hope you feel like yourself soon! Major Pettigrew has received a lot of positive reviews on the blogisphere. I know Eva from A Striped Armchair enjoyed Eating Animals.
The Small Room is the first Sarton novel I read. Up to that point I had only read some of her journals which I love. Like Sarton’s journals, TSR is a nicely old fashioned book and on the serious side. Major Pettigrew is serious in some ways but a totally enjoyable read. It is the one to read when you are in the mood to be swept up by a book that you don’t want to put down until you finish it.
Danielle – I am hoping this book helps me break the horrible run I’ve had with the Slaves books this year. My goodness what’s happened 🙂 And, I do love German chocolate. We are nearing the last few pieces. Ack!
Vasilly – Thank you. I was able to rest up this weekend so I’m ready for Monday. I think 🙂 Hope you are feeling better too! I must have missed Eva’s post on that book. I’ll have to look for it.
Thomas at My Porch – Thank you for visiting. I’ve only read one of her books but it was so good and I’m curious to see how I like her novel. I like how you describe Major Pettigrew. Oh I want to start it now! 🙂
