Slowly but surely I think I’m getting caught up on lots of little things. And, here are some things around the blogosphere that I wanted to quickly mention.
Of course since I didn’t have a chance to visit blogs while I was away I sort of missed all the buzz going on about Book Blogger Appreciation Week. I wanted first to say thank you to whoever nominated my blog for an award. That was so sweet and made my day. I’ve seen a lot of my friends get nominated and I’m doing a happy dance for them. Most importantly though I just wanted to say thank you to Amy, Trish and all the members of the awards committee. What a fun event and thank you for making it happen.
While I was away I also was lucky enough to win two books. Thanks to the giveaway Melody was hosting I won The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer. I’m really enjoying the Heyer books I’ve been discovering recently so I’m excited about this one. And, the other book came via the giveaway She Reads and Reads was hosting in which I won The Impostor’s Daughter by Laurie Sandell. I know I’ve read a few book reviews of that book and I get the feeling I’m really going to enjoy it. So thank you both!
Then today while I was catching up on some blog surfing (I think it’s going to take me days to get caught up with you guys!) I found out that Carl V. has just announced the fourth R.I.P. Challenge. Hurrah. I can’t wait to make a list of books for this one. Jodie has mentioned a Poetry Challenge which sounds too good to pass up, and then Danielle recently blogged about the Persephone Books Reading Week. How can anyone resist these?
Ok, but for now I think I’m going to focus on starting Dance Night by Dawn Powell which is the next Slaves of Golconda read. I don’t know if I’ll be ready for the discussion at the end of the month but we’ll see.
I’m sure I’m forgetting to mention a whole bunch of other announcements but I need to go read my book. Tomorrow I hope to have a book review — in pictures.
Wow – lucky you to have won 2 🙂 I also won a couple of books 😀
And congrats on your nomination – you didn’t mention the category 🙂
What books do you read for the Persephone Reading Week? I don’t know yet and so would love to participate 😀
Enjoy your read!
Looking forward to the review!
Yay!! Congrats on the nomination, Iliana! I’m so happy for you! 🙂
I’m glad you received the book! And wahoo for joining Carl’s RIP Challenge. I can’t wait to see what you’re reading for this challenge.
Hope you have a great week! Happy reading!
You are all evil. If I read one more post about RIP will have to join because I have no self-control! So glad to have you back. Most of the excitement while you were gone was BBAW…alot of exciting things happening. I’ve gotten swept up in it. Way to go on your nominations. I know I put you down. Were you able to get your five samples in?
I hope you like the Powell book. It’s a little dark, but I’m really enjoying it. Powell was a talented writer and I’m glad her work was brought back into print!
wow, great! Congrats on the BBAW award!
Have a great week catching up.
Veens – The category was general blog and mystery. So very sweet! Check out the link to the Persephone books challenge. They are a special imprint out of the U.K. and the books look lovely and the few I’ve read have been gems. Really great.
Melody – thank you! 🙂 I am looking forward to it – I think it’ll be fun. And, I was going to post a review later today but I think I need to post my RIP reads instead. Everyone is posting about it and it’s just so fun!
Sandy – You have to join – that’s all there is to it! 🙂 And, thank you so much Sandy. You are so sweet. I was able to get in my samples although given that I was so tired and a bit frazzled just having arrived from the trip who knows what exactly I sent it! haha…
Danielle – I’m loving the Powell book! I started it last night and just really like the descriptions. They don’t go overboard and yet you still get a very good sense of place.
Serena (Savvy Verse & Wit) – Thank you and I’m really enjoying catching up with everyone. Still very behind but slowly but surely I’ll get to visit all my blog friends 🙂
Congratulations on your nomination and on winning 2 books! Wonderful.
booklogged – Thank you! And, I’m a lucky girl aren’t I? 🙂
Congratulations on the nomination! 🙂
tanabata – thank you! 🙂
Welcome back!
