Catching Up

I hope you all had a great weekend. I wish I could have spent more time reading this weekend but I guess there is never enough time is there?

Kicking off the week is of course Banned Book Week. I think all of us readers know the importance of having access to books and the freedom to read. It’s sad and infuriating that my state, Texas, is leading in banning books. All I can say is that we have to fight this censorship. I am hoping I can get to one of my indie bookstores this week and make a purchase supporting diverse reads. If not I can always shop via Bookshop.org and lend my support. I hope you will too!

This week my book group is meeting to discuss Chapter & Curse by Elizabeth Penney. I’m looking forward to going and surprise, I’ve even finished the book on time!

A few other things I would like to do this week is actually make a stop at my local library. It’s been ages since I’ve been and I have some magazines to drop off. I love that they have a bin you can leave your gently used magazines and pick up any other you might like. I seriously need to think about cutting back on magazines. I love them but I have stacks unread. Actually, I’m curious if my library has a display for Banned Book Week as they have done one in the past.

So that’s a bit about what’s been going on around here. I’m still reading Silence of the White City by Eva García Sáenz but I’ve also added A Burning by Megha Majumdar. Both books are so good but of course I’m tempted to add another to the mix, in particular a spooky book for R.I.P. XVII. What’s a bookgirl to do!

Anyway, I hope you all have a great start to the week and would love to hear about what you are reading.
