Thank you so much for all the well wishes, prayers and good vibes sent. My grandmother is back in Mexico where she is getting the care she needs and has all the family around her she could want. It was a rough couple of days as my mom and I were the only ones taking care of my abuelita and she really needed help for everything as she couldn’t put any pressure on one leg. As you can imagine I’m still worried, keyed up and a bit tired from everything but again, your kind words have helped a lot.
So needless to say, not a lot of reading was done over the several days. Today however I have spent most of the day reading Little Tiny Teeth by Aaron Elkins as it’s the selection for my mystery book group which meets on Tuesday. And, guess who’s leading the discussion? Me! Needless to say, I need to hurry up and finish this and throw some questions together for tomorrow.
Oh and speaking of book discussions, the next Slaves of Golconda book for discussion is The Slaves of Solitude by Patrick Hamilton.
Alright, I can’t wait to catch up on blog visiting, emails and so many other things. I think housework will be last on my list – ha. Hope you are all having a great start of the week!
I am glad your grandmother is getting the care she needs and had a safe trip. It must be so hard, especially with the distance between you. Good luck with tomorrow!
Iliana, I’m glad your abuelita is getting the care she needs.
Hope you’ve a good rest and have fun reading! 🙂
Wecome back! We all prayed for your abuelita, and I’m so glad she is on the mend!
That’s good news about your grandmother. Hope you get some rest — and some reading time!
My book club meets today too. I finished the book yesterday – seems like I’m always finishing at the last minute. We are discussing Of Mice and Men. I’m still working on my thoughts about the book.
So glad your abuelita is doing ok. With so much care and love and family she is sure to be better soon!
I’m glad your grandmother is getting the care she needs. And good luck on your discussion questions!
Glad to hear the things are a bit better.
Sending good thoughts to both you and your grandmother, Iliana. I hope she makes a full recovery.
Good to hear that your grandmother is in good hands. I’m sure it was difficult to leave, but it sounds like you were a tremendous help while there. Keep us posted, Iliana.
Glad your grandmother is doing better. And housework should always be last on this list!
I am glad that your grandmother is getting the help she needs. I hope all turns out well! I agree, housework should always be the last on any list. lol
Iliana, wishing abuelita healing thoughts = }. Wishing you all fun @ your book club.
Literary Feline – This is when I really hate the fact that my family lives in another country. Thank goodness for phones & internet 🙂
Melody – Thank you. She is and I just know she is happier in Mexico. She’s got everyone around and also she isn’t worried about me. As much as I told her it wasn’t her fault and that I didn’t mind taking care of her I know that was hard for her. She’s used to taking care of others 🙂
Sandy – Thank you! I know those prayers worked. She didn’t break anything but she did get a small hairline crack. Her doctor said it should heal on its own but of course it’ll be painful for a while.
Anna – I have been resting up. I was covered in bruises and sore muscles from lifting, moving, and all that. I went to yoga class though and that worked wonders! 🙂
Melanie – Hope your meeting went great! I tend to wait til the last minute too – I figure that way everything is still fresh on my mind. Problem is that sometimes I don’t budget enough time 🙂
Stefanie – Thank you! Today when I called of course she said she was still worried about me. What a good Abuelita isn’t she? I told her she only needed to take care of herself and be positive that she was going to get well. Of course now I think I know where I got my “worry” genes from 🙂
aka Nik – Many thanks! I just know she’s more comfortable around her doctors that she knows and having more family stop in and visit!
Stephanie – Thank you so much. Me too. From what my mom has told me, the doctor was confident of her recovery so I just hope there are no complications and all goes well.
SFP – Thank you so much. I hope she does too. I guess the only thing I’m bummed out about is thinking that she may not be coming back to visit again. I think she may not want to again in case anything should happen again.
Les in NE – It really is hard for me to be away from what’s going on. I think one of my cousins who is helping out a lot now is probably tired of my constant emails asking for updates 🙂 She is in good hands though and that is a comfort.
Tara – Thank you and yes I agree housework should be last. I broke a glass today while doing the dishes and I thought you know that’s a sign that I need to go relax – haha…
Kailana – thank you! I’m hoping she’ll be walking around like before soon. And, yep, housework is typically last on my list too 🙂
Diane – Thank you for those thoughts! Book club was fun and I finished the book on time – yay! 🙂
Glad to hear your grandmother is doing okay. But ouf! Don’t these sorts of things weary the soul? Hope you are revitalising yourself with lots of lovely reading.
I’m glad to hear that she is getting the care she needs…that’s the best and most important thing. Lets hope you have time to relax and take care of yourself now.
I’m glad to hear that your grandmother is getting the care she needs and I hope she recovers quickly.
