I meant to do a blog post yesterday but I got caught up working in my Mixbook. Has anyone tried using this? I take so many pictures when we travel but yet I never get around to showing them to friends and family because they are always on my computer. So I decided to take action and do one of these books. I’m almost done and should have it ready to send out to print soon. Exciting.
This weekend we also stopped in at Barnes & Noble for our regular date night and to also take advantage of their member appreciation days which meant saving 20% on everything. I think I was overwhelmed and didn’t know what to buy so here’s our little stash:
I picked up the latest RT Book Reviews magazine to read reviews of upcoming mystery and women’s fiction novels. I also was excited to find the paperback of The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. I’m really looking forward to this one. My husband decided to get a special issue of National Geographic which has a cover story on the 50 of the World’s Last Great Places. I wonder if my husband is planning something! Ha.
So who else did some book buying this weekend and what did you get?
I haven’t tried Mixbook, but I am going to now. You’re probably the best person to ask this – are there any online scrapbook like Mixbooks out there (where I can mix text and photos)? I was going to buy some actual scrapbooks but I like to play with ideas on the computer before committing to them.
My daughter uses Shutterfly (I think) to make a book each year of special occasions with our granddaughter. She spends forever deciding which photos to include, and it makes a terrific way to record memories for each year.
I HAD to have the Sarah Waters when it first came out so it sits even now next to my bed waiting–have I read it yet? Of course not. And now it is out in paper–I hate it when I do that. I like the sound of Mixbook–must check that out. And I think it is so cool you and your husband have a regular date night! 🙂
I enjoyed reading The Paying Guests! I was quite taken aback by the ending; and that’s all I could say about it, lol. Looking forward to your thoughts. 🙂
I’ve got a B&N membership too but I couldn’t muster up the energy to get to the store. It doesn’t help that the store nearest me closed earlier this year and now the closest store is at the enormous Mall of America, a place that is a trial to go to even on a good and quiet day during the week. Glad you had fun though!
