Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am. We may be getting a lot of rain this weekend so hopefully that means perfect weather for enjoying lots of reading time. We really should be working on our garden but I guess we’ll see if the weather cooperates.
So now that National Poetry Month is over I’m happy to report that I did discover some new poets and poems. I’ve been really into poetry this year so I plan to continue checking out poetry books. I am currently reading The Carrying by Ada LÃmon. I’ve only read a few poems in this collection so far so not sure how I feel about them yet but I’ll keep you posted.
As far as reading challenges go, I didn’t sign up for any this year and plan to join in some reading events but I saw this May Bookish Bingo and am kind of tempted to try it. I like that they give you suggestions for each of the categories.
Finally, I did buy a book recently and that was The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde. I have not read any of his books but am excited to finally check this one out. This is the May selection for my book group. Plus, it’ll be great to finally get to the bottom of how Humpty Dumpty fell from the wall. Ha.
Alright friends, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and more book talk soon.
I read The Eyre Affair (Jasper Fforde) many years ago, but haven’t read The Big Over Easy. If it’s anything like The Eyre Affair, I think you’ll love characters’ names. 🙂 Have a great weekend! Hope it rains so you can read to your heart’s content.
For National Poetry Month, I read 100 Poems by Seamus Heaney. Oh, the endless rain! I was able to get some gardening done early yesterday before it started, but will be inside playing upstairs and reading today. If you didn’t see my reply on my crafty site about your question: After an online search, I found this one at The Stampin’ Place. They have a lot of cute designs, but this is the only snail mail. The service was prompt, and I like the stamp!
My daughter is a Jasper Fforde fan, but I’ve yet to read him. I only read part of a Mary Oliver collection last month… not nearly as much poetry as I’d hoped. Most of my books are up in NY though and I never think to check poetry out of the library. Bookish bingo looks like fun!
Les in OR – I’m really looking forward to it. And, can you believe it but no rain. It was a beautiful weekend though so I can’t complain 🙂
Jen Mullen – I have not read anything by Seamus Heaney so I need to add him to my list of poets. Thank you so much for the link to the Stampin Place. I’ve got it bookmarked and of course have found a bunch of other stamps I want! haha.
Joann @ Lakeside Musing – I’m so glad my library seems to have a good collection of poetry books so I can take advantage of that. I hope you have a great week ahead and your poetry books will be waiting for you when you head back to NY!
I love the idea of book bingo. It combines my love of games with my love of books!
